So I got back from Japan the other night.
It was a long journey. If this would belong in some other board please don't hesitate to do so.
A few things I learned about Japanese tea while in Japan.
1: For some reason bottled tea is loose leaf and restaurants are often bagged
2: A large portion of the Shizuoka tea plantations are right next to a factory.
3: Karada-Meguricha is divine.
4: They have Kit Kat bars with Matcha and Hoji flavor
5: April in Uji is beautiful (but, they'll have a Sake Festival over there right in the heart of the tea capital!)
6: So is Tai Ho An. (special thanks to whoever suggested it)
7: Even though tea is grown in Kyoto and Uji its actually cheaper to buy it in Tokyo. Uji<Kyoto<Tokyo
Not afraid of any radiation poisoning. Came back feeling good.

I think that was me. I'm glad you liked it. Did you happen to go to Byodo-in as well?SlientSipper wrote:

Kevin, Taiho An is the teahouse right across from the visitor center, right near Byodo-in. Basically the same area your pictures are from...or maybe it's the other side of the river.
