Hmmm, maybe cleaning the teaware is not so bad.

Washing my teaware is one the least stressful things to do. I actually enjoy washing dishes; something about water soothes me (even despite all the scrubbing).

Sakuraka matcha followed by karigane gyokuro and Yunnan black today. 8)

I always wash teapots using boiling water and rub them. I can't say it is a burden. I love to see the water disappearing when gently blowing on it and polish it while it is still hot. I also like to smell a hot teapot. It is kind of a ritual. I usually do it while warming up another vessel cause I always do overnight brews. When it has been a while that I haven't use one particular teapot, I can spent quite some time cleaning it after use.

The rest of the teaware, except my chawan, can sit for a while though...

I generally don't like washing dishes, but teaware is quite easy to handle and I usually do it just after I finish drinking...

Yep, not much of a cleaner of teaware. A cursory rinse under the faucet is usually all I can bring myself to.

Having some sencha today.

Since the tea I drink tends to require some focus and attention for the best results, I go with it and treat it as an exercise in focus and attention. Cleanliness is part of the whole thing, and if I'm not cleaning the teaware right away, I remind myself I'm neglecting part of the exercise. People worked hard to make these things I use, and thinking of them as a reason to treat their work with respect blends in well with the whole mindset.

Tea ware is easy compared to the rest of the dishes and the kitchen at large.

I'm having some 90's wild shu via teamasters this morning. Hitting the spot.
I guess i'll be cleaning it up later, but that's not getting me down just yet.

Cleaning teaware to me never has seemed to be a chore. Maybe it is the inherent respect I tend to have for clay wares in general.

Now cleaning the gutters.............

best,

...............john

I never mind cleaning my teawares--it's a pleasure at the end of the session to dispose of the leaves (to the compost bin for the worms, a happy fate as these things go), enjoy the teawares again as they're rinsed, wiped, rarely actually soaped (mostly just the cups I use for guests), and set to dry.

Compared to the other dishes, that have more troublesome things requiring perhaps soaking and scrubbing and rubbing and more WORK to clean, they're easy and quick.

I am guessing that most of the people who do not like to wash their teaware stayed away today! The vote actually shocks me.

The only thing that makes me clean the teaware the same day/night is waiting til the next morning would drive me crazy and I would regret it the next day anyway.

I simply HAVE TO clean it the same day of use. This usually means at night after final steepings. I am guessing I do not like doing it at night, but the alternative would mean no soggy leaf tea ... meaning no tea at all ... that night.

At the end of the day though ... I guess I do not mind it too much, but it is my least favorite part of tea.

Maybe if I had a dog I would prefer walking her. Since my kitties walk themselves I chose washing my teaware. Anything I can't put in the dishwasher is washed promptly. I'm lazy and I know that the longer I wait the harder it is to handwash teaware etc.

In my cup this morning - another round of delicious O-Cha Tsuen Sencha Otsuusan.

I voted do my taxes simply because I love number related, and money related things, and while writing the at the end when I owe money hurts, it is a great way to sit down and have to look at the money situation for the previous year.

Not that cleaning teaware is that bad, I just think cleaning teaware is something I have do, to drink tea using that again, and doing taxes plays right into stuff I enjoy.
