....and I'm just getting started :wink:

I am doing more and different sizes. Most up to 9-12 oz. right? Also some with blended edges instead of the defined sections. Both looks are cool. I also plan on doing some with slip trailing on them. It's like a raised line design feature.

Thanks! I really, really miss this one and I was going to glaze them with the same shino this one has. I ought to get one good one!

I am going to make more teapots too. I like making them because they are like little sculptures, were you can experiment with balance (both visual and physical) and surface... And too, now that I am profecient with the kiln, I am investing more time in the pottery, making sets, etc.

That is great Bill.

The balance in a kyusu is as critical as any other element IMHO. If the handle is too heavy for instance, the kyusu is always going to be on the verge of tipping over.

Heh, and what good will a sculpture be after tipping over a few times? A pile of sadness.

Hi all,
Finally have a chance to start showing you what I have been up to. We've had a devastating family emergency for the last month, and finally have my father safely in assisted living. Whew!! It's been hectic but clearing. Here's the latest group of teaware ready to glaze...

.

Probably make a bunch of turquoise/grey teabowls. Some earthy tans and browns.... Let me know if you see something you like and I can glaze it for you the way you want. I made a few flared lip teacups too!! :wink:

Really nice looking pieces Bill! Looks like the Kyusu-s have a vent hole in the lid? Like the tapered cups!

Hi Chip,
My Dad is doing well now thank you. My oldest step-son has a "life or death" situation going on that's been tough for Mary Ann and me to handle. Getting better everyday though. Thank you for your kind words.
I feel I am getting better at this teaware making... it's the details that take the longest it seems. I enjoy the journey!

I did get your PM and have the contact info. I am finally getting some breathing room now and I always want to do my best effort with anything. I will contact you probably this weekend after the firing.

Loaded some more pictures... IPT, your set of teacups and water bowl are in this one, the bowl on the right and the teacups are behind the "elk"... you can see one of them.

Then an overall pic

...and then a few of the teacups are showing here. There are alot more but it was too hot to dig deeper and I have a mug that tipped over and stuck to the soup tureen

... I need to finesse them out together so I can "surgically" try to seperate them saving the tureen I hope. :roll:

We shall see... more tomorrow

What cone's down there in the front? We are firing next weekend and I'm so "stoked" :lol:
