Hi,

I have a one pound bag of loose Kenya tea I bought at an Indian Grocery store in Chicago. Kinda cheap in price, but I have never had such a tea, so I bought it. It says "Strong and tasteful Danedar Kenya Tea" on the label.

Anyhow, no brewing instructions on the label and after several fruitless google searches and messages to other tea lovers, I have been unable to find any kind of brewing instructions. Can anyone help me with this? Otherwise, I guess I just might start experimenting.

It´s a western style black tea so try....

1 heaping tablespoon per 12 oz (360ml)
boiling water
2-3 minutes infusion time

will be very strong, use less leaf if you like the tea weaker.

Welcome to the forum!

Kenyan could be a lot of broken leaf particles or even CTC (cut tear curl), so you might have to reduce Ent's time. Alsoif it is still too intense, cut back on the amount of leaf a bit.

Generally tea bought in a market is not going to be top notch, but good luck with it. And Kenyan in general is not usually particularly outstanding. And lastly, Kenyan is often a blender, used in blends.

Other than that ... it is tea. :mrgreen:

Thanks for the help Entropye and Chip! Yes, at $5 for a pound I figure it is not real high quality, but I have never tried any African teas (other than Rooibush), so it's worth a shot. The leaves look like little round chips or seeds, so maybe a ctc. Thanks again.
