Does it make good tea? That's all it matters.chicagopotter wrote:
Just received the 140cc version of this teapot from zen8tea. Bottom has the same rectangular stamp but not the oval one. Haven't tried it with tea yet, but the lid fit is horrible! There is quite a bit of room for the lid to move around. Finger over the top whole barely slows the pour. Flow doesn't even come close to stopping. Has one large hole for spout. BTW, paid $15.

Just picked up one of those 50ml Shui Ping Yixings from zen8tea. They seem to have noticed the demand increase as the price went up to $15.
I still paid it.
Eager to see how it performs.

Still a good deal at $15.
The last ones I picked up needed some boiling and soaking to get rid of a lotion/floral smell, but they came out just fine.

I see beautiful teapots pass the revue.
From expensive to cheap.
Because of my ignorance, I fear the wrong purchases

is this the zen8tea ebay store? I have yet to see one of these pots for sale.

Re: Official/Different Yixing Show Off Topic!
That's because we bought them all Geekgirl!
You might want to email and ask though. I'm not sure if they're completely out.

I received my 50ml pot from Zen8tea a few days ago. I've tried it 3 times since then. Twice with Wuyi and once with Roasted TGY. It performed very well with both. The aspect I noticed most is helping with the high, sweeter notes when compared with a gaiwan.
I may continue to use the pot for both Wuyi and Roasted TGY. Not sure if this is a big deal or not.
Here's the pot.

Here's a few shots of the yixing family. I use the big pot for Hongcha and the Hongni pot for aged Shengpu.

The newest, tiniest member of the household....first, trying to give a sense of scale--how tiny it is:

It has tiny strainer holes inside the spout:

It holds a small quantity of tea, although as the afternoon went on and the heavily compressed puerh expanded, the normally quite snug fitting lid was forced upward.

And after pouring some water over the tea, it pours nicely in 5-8 seconds, and covering the lid hold does stop the pour.

And it matched sizes beautifully with the tiny green cup from a scent cup set.

I admit I bought it mostly as a novelty, but while it is so tiny that it's a bit awkward, the tea brewed in it (an aged puerh sample from Essence of Tea) was delicious.

Nice pots, auhckw, debunix, nickE & Dima
Yesterday I received a Little Lequ Pot from zishateapot.co.uk, 100 ml (the indicated size seems to be relatively accurate in this case), qingshuini clay, relatively thick-walled.
The packaging is some of the most unbreakable I've ever seen; I spent a lot of time just unwrapping layer upon layer of bubble wrap, before reaching the nice red box that was filled with polystyrene, more bubblewrap, and finally a small teapot in a silk-like wrapping too. Of course the pot was also filled with polystyrene
The pot looks very nice and passed all the lid-fit tests and pours well, but I have yet to make tea in it, so the final judgement is pending.

I think I finally got to the bottom of my GYG puerh in the micro pot after who knows how many infusions--definitely more than 30, probably less than 50, but now it is losing color and needing a little longer for good flavor, up to a minute or two per infusion. Still not entirely done, though. I'm amazed.
