Your Go-to No-Fuss No-Muss Tea

Everybody has this kind of tea: it's impossible to screw up, it tastes pretty good no matter what, and it's cheap. When you are hard pressed to find the time for a proper session with something expensive, this is the tea that'll tide you over. It's like chicken soup.

For me, this tea is the genmaicha from my local tea shop, as well as a lovely light Lapsang Souchong from Upton Tea Imports.

I'd love to hear what you guys brew as a "comfort" tea.

Most of the tea I drink is comfort tea. Cheap is not necessarily a qualifier for "comfort" for me.

Yutaka Midori from O-Cha would probably be a go-to tea that I can't mess up and also on the inexpensive side of the teas I like.

High FIred Tie Guan Yin too. Almost any aged Ooolong. I don't know, they are all pretty comforting. :D

SeaDyke brand red-label Anxi Ti Kuan Yin.

It's the first tea I was formally introduced to, and in addition to a long history of positive associations I bring to every cup, it's a mellow tea that is comforting and comfortable on overcast days, when I feel under the weather, or just need a thermos full of tea right NOW.

Tea in itself is a comfort food/drink for me. There is nothing better than to curl up with my dog (who is actually named Sencha) and sip a hot cup of tea while reading a good book...

A good tea to do this with, I have found, is pretty much anything oolongy... Especially a Milk Oolong (flavored) that I found at a tiny Argentinian coffee shop. Cheap, sweet, warming, calming, and delicious!

I have two nice and easy comfort teas: Tie Guan Yin (brewed grandpa style) and Genmaicha.
