Hi from Beijing

by ChuanHongMan » Mar 21st, '11, 06:21

Hi All,

Currently in Bejing, originally from Ireland.
Have always been a big tea drinker, but have only recently become interested in Chinese teas.

My favourite tea at the moment is Si Chuan Red/Black Tea (四川红茶)
I plan on going to HangZhou soon to find the famous XiHu LongJing (西湖龙井:West Lake Dragon Well).

Has anyone been before, or anyone a local of that area? Would be nice to have suggestions of where to visit. :D

Thanks

Hi Tortoise. Thanks for the welcome :D

I'm slowly finding out where to go in Hangzhou. A Chinese friend used to live in Suzhou which is nearby, so she's helping out with directions :)

Sounds like a nice trip. A pilgrimage, more like.

Hi Chip. Thanks for the welcome.

I would like to open a thread about the trip I plan to take... I will be in HangZhou (Longjing Tea) and SuZhou (Biluo Chun Tea) and I plan on visiting Longjing village, and hope to find the Dragon Well. When I am in SuZhou I will hopefully make it in time for the tea picking...although I am unsure what date QingMing falls on this year.
Maybe others on here would be interested in hearing about the trip or would have suggestions on places to see while there.
Is it ok to do this? And, if so, where should I open it? I can't seem to found an appropriate place.

Thanks

I'd love to hear as much about your trip as you'd care to tell us. Welcome.

I've heard it's pretty hard to get good longjing in the Hangzhou area. You might have better luck locally, if you can find a store that's reputable or has good stuff.

If I ever go, I do want to check out this restaurant, though:

Thanks for the replies all.

As Chip suggested, I will open a thread in the Green Teas section about the trip I will take. (I've been having lots of internet trouble for the past while so it might take a little while before I get it posted...and I want to get as many details together before I post.)

Wyardley, thanks for the restaurant suggestion. I've read the article you posted and a couple of others about it too. It sounds like an amazing place! Hopefully I'll get the chance to go to it.

Hope you are all having a good weekend wherever you are!!

Hello Chuanhongman!
How about your trip?
I did not see your subject earlier... but if, I'd like to be helpful as I'm now living in Hangzhou. :)
There're lots of different tea in china, maybe later we can call you Dianhongman, or Longjingman, or othermen? :D
