"Day" and "Night" have just arrived from Poland! THANKS, Andrzej. The USPS held them hostage for 10 days!!!!!!!!!!

They are quite precocious ... and beautiful too. Might give them their maiden voyage with Gyokuro since they are a nice size for the precious dew.

Ahoj Andrzej,

I have to say -your pieces look better and better. Graet!

I am sorry that I am not going to make it to tea festival in Cieszyn this weekend. I hope you will find time to visit us here in our studio:)

Chip, 10 days is great! I am happy you like it and I like your idea to use it for Gyuokuro.

Petr, Thanks for your words. I'm deeply moved by this honor.
Pity we will not meet in Cieszyn - I hope one day ... time will tell

Ahoj Andrzej,

This white set is beautiful. I like the way how shapes of the hohin and yuzamashi go together and also the color-feeling of the set. Just would like to hold it for a while...Some Chawans from your cataloge hit me too. I just have a problem with "American"(smoked) raku chawans. I think this is great technique for art-decoration field not for tea-bowl field. So maybe it is this personal point of view what makes me like you high fired chawans more :)

Best

Ahoj Petr,
That is an interesting question about western raku as a functional wares.
I am curious what makes you trouble with that. Post reduction (smoke), low fire, far from tradition? I am curious because I have/had some trouble too. For a long time I respected so called „raku” only for educational reasons or as you mentioned good technique for decoration items http://www.coroflot.com/bero/raku. These chawans were an „accident” (I was preparing glaze for workshop and as a companion I took some chawans bisc) but I have fond a result unexpected pleasant. When I am drinking hot water from one of them I do not feel any bad or strange taste. Of course there is only clear glaze (frits + clay) and for post reduction I use newspapers instead of sawdust. Thanks a lot you share your doubts here. It was very inspiring for me and gave me a chance for explanation.

Thanks a lot for your words about my houhin set. It was inspirational too. What about an idea of exchange our works. I would like not only hold for a while your work but use it too:) I mean I will make a cup specially for you and vice-versa. Could be nice to make such exchange with other TA here but I am too shy to ask other artists.(prices are not comparable):-)
PM me if interested. Thanks.
saluto
andrzej

as usual sorry for my English it probably sounds rude

Hi Andrzej,
Hi Andrzej,
I am curious what makes you trouble with that. Post reduction (smoke), low fire, far from tradition? I am curious because I have/had some trouble too.
May be all three reasons you have mentioned, maybe I just haven't hold the right piece yet. Probably most important for me is the final feeling. Softness of raku bowls is more then welcome and for some tea occasions very important- but I still miss some essence in western raku chawans when holding them. It will be for longer discusion (and many cups of tea) one day in person

Your raku vases and doses are great! Thanks for sharing.
What about an idea of exchange our works. I would like not only hold for a while your work but use it too :)
I am more then interested! Please send me some pictures what you can give up. Look forward to it.

Best
Petr

I just received one of Andrzej's teabowls this week and it's fantastic. I have to say that the pictures on the site don't do his work justice. The glaze and workmanship is subtle and excellent.

I'll post some photos of the bowl in action soon...
