I've been drinking nothing but O-cha for the last month. Predictably delicious.

Tea of the month is something new for me, my first real single bush dancong, 2009 Lao Cong Zhi Lan Xiang - Cattleya Orchid Fragrance from Teahabitat.

This morning started with koicha matcha, and later some Shui Xian.

Hi all,
It was mainly Wenshan Baozhongs, mostly greener ones, some older or Qizhong style ones.
But also some Long jings in the morning, some yanchas for those fresher evenings and once upon a time, depending on mood and weather, a small yellow label from the 90's, young shengs.
As usual, a lot, many different, all enjoyable!

But if I was to choose just one tea session, it would be that great single bush Shui xian dan cong from Wu dong mountain that I try not to sip too quickly because I only have a very small quantity. That was a great tea moment!

It's like a giant wheel of cheese....! Except made of tea! So I guess that makes it like a giant wheel of tea.... :?

Anyway, my tea of the month was definitely a Japanese green, and like o-Cha's YM, though possibly a toss-up with a gyokuro. I certainly drank a lot more of the YM, though... :D

Definitely the TPHK from Jing. It was so delicious that I ignored the long jings so I "have" to try them before I place another order for TPHK. My biggest mistake of the month was traveling without tea. Here I am at the breakfast table pining away while my tea sits neglected at home.

My tea of June would have to be Tie Guan Yin, which has always been my favorite tea (except immediately after I've have a good series of infusions of most any other tea, that might temporarily persuade me otherwise). As part of trying to be more disciplined about my green oolongs, as I've managed for the senchas, I didn't drink any for several months, working my way through some Alishan oolongs and many other teas. So coming back to it was like a breath of fresh air.....not that there was any problem with the Alishans, but I think all those years of drinking almost exclusively TGY left their mark on my palate, that finds it's home in TGY still, whether green or medium or deeply roasted.

Today, however, I am starting the day with Tai Ping Hou Kui in my Petr Novak kyusu, just delicious and splendid (but don't tell the sencha about the intrusion), and preparing a thermos full of an herbal tisane for a birthday celebration at work today--chamomile, hibiscus, gamro, tulsi, lemon grass.

hmmm. Not sure.

I think I've already reported on this, but I would say my most important find was Ippodo's hojicha. Their Uji Shincha was nice too, but the hojicha opened my eyes to how good that style can be. It has an amazing effect on the water. It becomes dramatically smoother and softer. It truly coats the mouth and throat like certain yancha I've had. Stupidly easy to brew also. This has become a staple in my house. I make three 12oz steepings in quick succession, combine them into a glass karaf, take what I want warm, then refrigerate the rest.

YM 2011 this morning from O-Cha.

I take it this means no issue w/ brewing a Chinese green? Great to hear...! My trouble must have been with the dustings of my last bit of TPHK, then.

No big surprise, Japanese green, shincha Aoi or YM from the O-C. Both very good and quite divergent.

Began the TD with Warashina Supreme also from the O-C with the Mrs. 2010 "wintage" that is still outstanding. A pity this tea will not be seen as a 2011. Well, for now anyway.
