2007 Yong De Ecological Old Tree Ripe Cake
Found this sample in the bottom of the drawer, sitting there for a long time--last note I have about it is 2 years old.
It's a nice woodsy puerh--forest humus, not a lot of sweet, hints of fruity, some spicy and even a little bitter at the tip of my tongue after a sip--good stuff. As I'm brewing it now (2.8 grams of tea in a small gaiwan, about 75 mL water, water 205 degrees), it's tasty quite tasty, but I think I prefer Norbu's 2009 Lao Cha Tou (plummier) and 2007 Menghai Golden needles white lotus (rich caramel notes). After I noticed the name on the sample pouch, I remembered the quest for this one recently in TeaSwap, and am trying to figure out the particular appeal: it's not that there's anything at all wrong with it, just nothing that is extra special, standout, remarkable. It's a nice, well balanced, shu.

Myanmar Tea - This is the first time I am drinking this. And I am impressed by it. It gives a satisfying nice aroma and taste like raw puerh of age 7 to 10 years old. Quite strong but yet smooth. Bitter sweet aftertaste. Very strong 'chi' that made me feel warm even in my office's cold aircond room. My head went a bit spinning after drinking few infusions.

2005 Mingyuan Hao Yiwu, originally $35 at HouDe and has since been marked up to $65.
Great tea, the worst part of the session was trying to fit the leaves in the gaiwan.

Bang Wei 2010 Raw - Single Estate harvest. This gives a very good aroma and light soothing flavor. Though it is 2010, it is very easy to drink now. Not bitter and not astrigency. This falls nicely under 'buy 2 drink now' category. Very reasonable price for such quality. It is a preorder pu, shipment coming soon.

Long Pin Hao 2010 Raw - Single estate. It is quite smoky. Kind of reminds me of tobacco smell. Drinkable now if you like the smoke.

Of all the tea we tasted , Jing Mai was the best for me.Will take a few pcs to drink now as its cheap.

1960s Poh Lan 229 Liu Bao - Price tag Rm3500 (USD1129) per KG. Aroma and Taste like medicine herb. Sweet. Smooth. So goood...
Initially we brew it with a 250 years old Mid Qing Dynasty teapot, but the teapot cut the aroma. So we changed it to normal gaiwan and the aroma came back.

I am trying to clear one of my counters of the growing pile of tea samples, and so I dove into the 2010 Bangwai from EoT. I actually started it yesterday, but although it smelled absolutely wonderful, I wasn't able to taste it. I've had this phenom happen in the past, where I can't seem to taste the tea; I usually chalk it up to allergies or that I burned my tongue on something.
Ramble ramble... in any case, I waited a day and I was able to taste the tea again. It's quite nice and still quite young and powerful; I'm sure sitting in a sealed pouch didn't help it much; fortunately its larger, more round brother(s) are sitting in my pumidor...

Xia Guan 2007 raw Tuo - Super duper cheap. Sweet aftertaste. Good aroma. No smoke. It tasted much more than what the price it should be.

Lincang 2000 raw Tuo - This cost about 10x the Xia Guan 2007 tuo above. Though it is 10 years, it is still astringency at the 4th brew onwards.

Yunnan (Xia Guan) Tuo Cha Raw 2005 - 2005 is the last year that this green box is packaged under then Yunnan name. Year 2006 onwards they changed it to Xia Guan Tuo Cha. 5+ years of aging. Light. Nothing great about this tea.

Dayi Yun Mei Raw 2003 - I have drank this 2 weeks ago and decided to revisit this. This pu cannot be found in the Dayi book. Some ppl are saying it is fake. But according to the seller it was featured in one of the chinese magazines. It is a special order.
Put aside real or fake, after the 3rd infusion this tea gets quite strong with some astringency but has the zhang xiang foundation. Colour is quite nice.

1980s VIVE Liu Bao Special Grade - Has the typical woody wet stored liu bao taste. Smooth and Sweet. Nice to drink... but....
Being 4x the price of the recent golden award liu bao, I would expect more... the golden award really is outstanding by itself. Though it is 2005 it has the similarity of the 80s just that it is younger and not so smooth. But the plus point is that it tastes rich and has good body and aftertaste.
