Most of the teas I drink I preheat the pot before the rinse (if rinse is necessary). I usually just fill 1/4 though and shake. For balled oolongs though I make sure to fill at least
3/4 capacity of pot before the rinse and let it sit in pot till its hot, hot, hot. Cups I just use the preheat water, then the rinse water. I make sure to blow or scrape the floatsies off the top and not use the sediment on the bottom though so that it does not leave any pieces behind in the cups.
