They have Cover and Naked version. Price differs but same item. A lot of tea drinkers after drinking this have set their standard higher in Raw Puerh. The camphor (Zhang Xiang) taste is hardcore. The kick rocks. Long lasting brew... Dry storage throughout its life in Malaysia...
Looks nice !

Wow, that's awesome, and very generous... thanks!

I should save the questions for the "offer #2" thread, but I assume this camphor type is where they store the tea w/ camphor? I think I remember seeing some pictures of that a couple years ago...

No, that is wrong way of getting camphor taste. Not even sure possible of getting the taste. It may smell like camphor on the dry leaves, but may not taste like it. I'm not sure, have not experience such.

There is a few sayings of why the tea has camphor taste:
-Because the tea tree is planted nearby camphor tree
-The tea somehow just changed to camphor taste naturally from aging

The KLP 2 that I am sending is a very strong tea when it is new. Super smoky. Not drinkable. Nasty. Nobody wants it. But over the years, it changed naturally into a beautiful and tasty camphor taste tea. It is still very strong and gives the kick. Probably need more aging but it is very nice to drink now already, just that you have brew it right.

Very interesting idea - kudos to auhckw :D for sparing the time to share tea with the more tea-barren regions of the globe....

Looking forward to tasting and sharing thoughts on these teas with others on the Forum.

Count me in....

I plan to visit the tea shop this Sat (30th July) to collect the first round of this order. Roughly 36 more hours from time of this posting. So those that want it or has placed the order without payment, plz contact me so that I can include yours in this round...

Don't worry if you missed it, as long as the tea shop has stock you can still get it later :)

And to reciprocate, we could ship over to you some hard to find in malaysia stuff, like moon pies or a debt crisis.

This made me laugh a lot. I'd like 4 moon pies with a side of debt crisis, please. Can I write you an IOU?

I went today to collect the Liu-Pao, and the owner said she has purposely waited for me to open up a new basket. As she is a lady, and the basket is very heavy, so I helped her to unbasket it. While doing it, the smell of the tea leaves are just too good. Here are the photos

There are only 120 baskets of this batch
Image

The number on the wrapping identifies the liu-pao. 85122.
Image

The number on the baskets must match the wrapping. 85122.
Image

44KG per basket
Image

Using a knife to scrap off the outer layer (we don't want that). Then start loosening it up.
Image

Process of packing - She didn't loosen it up completely by purpose, so there will be some chunks in the packing.

Golden Award Liu-Pao deserves Golden packing

We tested it and confirmed the right taste. 4 other customers were there too to verify. Their comments, though this is nice and has a good body, it would be much better when it is aged. I'm so keeping this for aging...

I've managed to get some free samples from a tea shop and thought of sharing it with you guys. 15 x 10g. I will send it together with the first 15 orders of KLP 1.

Image

Note: I have not approached my seniors to verify the taste of this Pu, but generally I think it is OK. Anyway, it is free so no problems.

2005 2 Seasons Yiwu Single Estate Raw Puerh

According to the tea shop, this is 2 harvest Pu. Spring and Autumn for year 2005 from a Single Estate area in Yiwu. It is Plantation grade. The raw materials are selected by the tea shop and compressed by Guoyan.

Big Piece (Left) - 500g - Autumn Harvest
Small Piece (Right) - 250g - Spring Harvest

3 ways of brewing:
1) Autumn
2) Spring
3) Autumn + Spring Combo - you mix it yourself

All 3 tasted different. This gives an idea of what it means by the same single estate but different season taste. Both has its own nice aroma. Started light but gives the kick on 3rd brew onwards and shows it astringency. We stopped at 5th brew. This tea is good, probably for aging. It is also good to drink after a heavy oily meal to digest. But to really enjoy this, I think time has not come.

Green Packet Sample = Spring Harvest

Edit: All 15 x 2 x 10g Samples have been assigned to the 15th first order

I am curious about the best way to store the loose tea that has been placed in the golden packaging and canisters particularly if the intent is to let some of the tea age. Would there be sufficient air present within the sealed golden packaging and/or the canister to age the tea properly? Or would the lack of air flow actually improve the aging process for these smaller quantities of loose tea? Or, because the tea is loose and no longer will benefit from being part of a pressed cake or basket, is the sealed packaging helpful to preserve and protect flavors?
