SSHC Liu Pao - A customer brought this to share with us. He managed to get some of it from the author of the book who is a Malaysian. It has the aged woody taste but it didn't meet up with the expectations of the group. They say it has lost its aroma.

Tasted the newly arrived 2011 Dayi Jia Ji Tuo 100g today. The tea just arrived yesterday. To my surprise,it was totally different from last year or the year before. The soup color looks like a 3 to 4 years old color and it was very smokey and strong.
This is the type of taste to keep for further aging and would recommend this tea if you want to keep for aging.

I will go try it next week. The tea shop (mother and son) called me to go quick before they run out of stocks...

Boh Red Tea - A customer brought this to share. He kept it for 8 years personally. I don't like red tea, but this is good, giving a touch of plum sweet aftertaste. Maybe because it is aged...

1960s Liu Pao - First 3 brew gives good aroma but not much flavor. 4th to 6th, flavor starts to give the woody aged taste, very good. But on the 7th brew, it took a deep dive and became too light. What a waste for such and expensive tea.

2007 Kunming 7581 Ripe - Typical ripe taste. A little fishy. I didn't enjoy this.

Another rare find, 2003 Xiaguan 4 pieces set box. Out of budget, skipped for now.

2006 Xia Guan Sheng Tai Raw - Very typical xia guan smoky taste. A good tea, but not something you would remember.

2003 Xia Guan 5 Golden Flower Raw - Made from better grade raw material for FT (Taiwan market). Good aroma. Not smoky. Flowerish taste with sweet aftertaste. We tried to soak it on the 5th brew and it tasted a little bitter which follows by saliva keep flowing. Indeed a good tea but need more aging. The group of customers were giving thumbs up to it too... There goes my wallet...

2010 Fall - Sun Dried Zi Juan - Yunnan "Purple Beauty" Tea by Norbu Tea

Finally got to this one—have been on a tasting kick this week. I read another review comparing this one to berries and chocolate—and I agree, the dark leaves have a unique scent that is reminiscent of raspberries and dark chocolate. The leaves are also a very surprising deep purple-black when dried, and purple-green when wetted.

The tea itself does fulfill the expectation of berry in a deeply tart fruitiness. The chocolate, however, does not come through. I understand the difficulty Greg had writing the description because this is not a typical puerh. But while the first infusions can be a bit tricky—there’s some bitterness to work around, and the next time I might start it with slightly cooler water—the later infusions, as it fades towards sweet water—keep that berry and sweetness delightfully. A very nice tea.

Should have added: steeps were flash rinse, then 10 seconds apiece for a good while before increasing to 20", 30", eventually a minute or so.

2011 Purple Cane Big Snow Mountain Raw - Claimed to be from 300 years old tree. This gives the fresh taste, its like drinking green tea. First 2 brew gives not much taste but a nice flowerish aroma. Taste starts to get stronger from the 3rd brew onwards but remains light. We tried soaking it on the 5th brew, it didn't give any bitterness or astringency, no kick either. I like it but not the price tag

2010 Dayi Tien Ren Ba Bu Raw - I tried this in the Tea expo 1+ months back. It was very very smoky then. It's smokiness is very different from xiaguan's smokiness. Today, tasted it again. Smokiness has gone down a bit. It has some sweet aftertaste, but the smokiness is still there. I don't like it. I can only remember smoke smoke smoke out of this.
