Official Pu of the day

I think the official price is ¥1911 (about $300) for a 1911g cake. A set has 4 cakes. It's said that there are only 1911 sets made.
The packaging is indeed beautiful. I almost bought a sample size (20g each small cake, ¥100 per set), but got a few Liming's 36g sample size bricks for free instead

Have you seen their "tasting samples"? It's more affordable (I don't mean per unit price) and got a few more people buying it. But I hope you manage to get to taste it for free
Based on taobao, 4 box set cost about MYR 4500 (USD 1600)
I have not come across it here yet, but even if it does, I doubt with that price any tea shops will be generous to open it

Someone I know got much lower price. Maybe some seller put a high price but sell for a lower one.
The way dayi sell this tea is rather odd. Some other teas I've seen (like the one from Liming) have sample sets showing up first in order to attract people, or at least sample and tea show up together. But sample sets of this one came later than the tea. Sellers can only brew the samples either to show people or let people taste in the store, because they can't afford breaking the big cakes either. So be hopeful

Cannot afford the big version... there is a mini version. Taobao price is MYR 200 (USD 72). I hope it will reach here, I'll get it for sure

Yes, taobao price is hard to say. Sometimes too expensive, sometimes too cheap.
I think have to ask our tea seller to import this. Hope it is cheaper.

No kidding! The price quote I got is ¥100($16). Usually taobao price will be no more than tea sold in a real store. Maybe you took the price for the set as price for each small cake?

Oh my! It seems I misunderstood the whole thing. Now I guess the ¥100 quote I got was for 20g x 4 samples, no formal packaging. I said I "almost" wanted to buy it because I thought I would like to pay ¥80 for the packaging...

2011 Dayi Yiwu Raw
I tried it 2 days ago...
viewtopic.php?f=20&t=7045&start=975#p203998
Today I revisit it again. Taste is so much different. The soup is thicker. The aroma and taste is better and stronger. Good aftertaste. Not bitter. Not astringency. Lasted many brews. On the 8th brew, the flavor went down leaving only light sweetness in the tea that keeps on brewing.
My seniors were saying from their experience, when the tea just came out of the shipping container and newly opened. It is not accurate to drink immediately. The tea is 'sleeping'. Needs a few days to wake up. The first time I drank it, the teas was only out from the shipping container. So I guess seniors are right.
Look at the tea colour. It is the same as Gold Dayi. It looks like a 3 to 4 years old colour tea.

That said.. I couldn't resist again...

Having a marvelous session with the loose Lao Ban Zhang spring 2009 sheng from Norbu. So tasty, so sweet, so wonderful, a special tea for a day when I need a good lift.

Re: Pu of the day
Had a tea marathon with another teachatter from abroad. He said he don't mind wet pu... so I brought him to a teashop and here are some of the pu we drank. Probably the first time I had so many wet pu in my life in a day.
90s Gong Ting Ripe - A bit bitter. Woody. Wet stored taste. Not a high grade material but is quite nice. Soup is thick.

90s Ripe - It says it is ripe, but it taste very much like a raw. A customer was saying this is Hong Kong stored. It is raw pu, but purposely made to age faster. Spray water method? Underground basement method? We don't know, but it has the raw that is aged but with wet taste. Kind of ok if like wet.

90s ripe - Taste kind of similar expressed raw pu. Not much character and flavor. Dull. Ok to drink if you can accept its taste.
