Sun/Mon 8/7-8/11 PAIGE ONE

Postby Chip » Aug 7th, '11, 02:13

Happy Sunday TeaDay everyone. Welcome to our Casual TeaRoom today.

Please drop in and share what is in your cup with us. Yesterday we discussed how we determine how much water we use when brewing. Feel free to continue to discuss this topic.

Also be sure to discuss today's 'Off Tea Topic'.

This can be very thought-provoking and introspective. Many variables could come in to play. Be sure to take time to ponder before you answer.

We are looking forward to sharing this TeaDay with ... everyone. Bottoms up!

I'm back from holidays and I started the day with a bowl of matcha (Kaoru organic from O-Cha). Yummy, but somehow I think I prefer the Kiri-no-Mori's more bolder taste... Hmmm, must try it koicha style...

Regarding my age I must say that I usually feel older and wiser than I really am when I have a serious tea session. Somehow I associate the tea with calm, peace, wisdom and longevity, and the image of Lu Yu floats to mind...

I would say it depends on the moment in time. If I am on my bicycle, conquering a winding mountain road ascent, I am 20-29. If reality sets in and the road is beating me, I am older than reality, in my 60's, and wondering what am I trying to do, kill myself?!?

Drinking tea, I am rarely any age, just feeling the tea. Tea seems to have no age discrimination.

I would honestly have no good answer ( or even a bad one at that) to the tea day topic. But I did have my first tea in a few days, a Hatsumi Shincha (not glowing yet), and now I am gearing up for some Yancha from Red Blossom.

Daily I have moments when I am 3 or 4 years old, amazed by yet another wonder of the world, and moments when I am much, much older than my calendar age.

Today, drinking a fine Mao Feng from Jingteashop from my Rock hagi cup, I am again a child in need of a nap, comfortably fed and ready to sleep after I finish my drink.

Later, I may be old enough to appreciate the sophisticated brilliance of my Lao Ban Zhang, the leaves of which were not nearly exhausted by yesterday's very limited infusions--I had better be, because my 5 year old self would not like it at all.

I thought this year's Tour De France was on of the best since Miguel retired :D

Little did I realise that for 9 days Thomas Voeckler was really you, until half way up Alpe D'Huez he went from 25 to 60.

Or maybe you switched identities and became Pierre Rolland after towing Thomas up hills for 9 days Pierre was suddenly set free! ANd won the stage with Panache [that is French for Chinese Green Tea] certainly a prospect for the future!

I wonder how long it will be before Cyclists are banned if they drink tea before a race!

Wellll, actually I was going to use a TdF analogy for my post. But no matter how young "I am" I am never in that league.

It was a great Tour, full of surprises and intrigue and suspense. I honestly did not think Cadel had it in him to win at the start, but he surprised me spectacularly.

Began the TD with Miyabi shincha with the Mrs. Then before a ride, I performance enhanced with matcha ... well, not really but I am now wondering.

And no, Rod Stewart is not one of the "treasures." Though now his song with this title keeps going through my head.

I look like I'm about twelve, and apparently have around that level of maturity most of the time. So I'd say around twelve or thirteen a lot of the time, though I've also always been able to go into super-serious grownup mode at the blink of an eye. (Oh man, I'm turning twenty-one this November, and I can look forward to being carded, like, forever. Even if I liked alcohol a lot I'd probably not buy it often just to avoid the hassle! )

Pu-erh tea this morning; a lot of iced green tea despite it being kind of chilly today; currently sipping a hibiscus tisane and watching some baseball. Life is good. :D

Normally I would say 10-19, but lately it is more in the 90-99 year range. Life sure can throw you a curve ball sometimes.

May you say ... 40-49 soon!

Great TD. Continued with Hana No Kaori from the O-C. Then lots and lots of hot brewed SLT sencha, iced with my traditional touch of honey. Refreshing of a HUMID day ... evening.
