Wow, I bet you could fit one, maybe two oolong leaves in that gaiwan! That's great!

And a very beautiful bowl/cup... maybe it's because the picture comes right after that tiny gaiwan, but the bowl is much bigger than I thought...! :D

I think the gaiwan's saucer would hold as much tea as the gaiwan itself would. It is awesome Shawn! It could also be used as a lidded teacup.

TreasureHunt Treasure 2 by Shawn of GreenwoodStudio. A beautiful wood fired shino wan to a lucky TreasureHunter!
Teacup, wood-fired iron rich stoneware w/ shino and iron brushwork

This one has been glazed with a nice smooth shino glaze that takes on golden hues. It has some very minimal iron brushwork decoration. It measures 3-3.5"w (because of its asymmetry) x 2"t and holds approx. 7 oz at full capacity (to the rim)
Winner TBD and announced later!!!

Technically not a chawan in the sense it is smaller, so a wan nevertheless.

You said it was "A beautiful wood fired shino wan to a lucky TreasureHunter", since wan means bowl, I assumed it was a Chawan.

At last I have the time to post some pics of the wonderful cup I received from Shawn few weeks ago. One truly amazing thing about this cup are the shiny wrinkles at the bottom, as if gold was hiding beneath the glaze.

Keep up the good work Shawn ! :)

Thanks for posting David!!

These little gongfu cups (50 ml. to the rim) are an example of the difference placement in the wood-kiln can make. These are both made of the same clay, and have the same shino glaze applied. The one on the right got clobbered with ash and probably more dramatic atmospheric changes  , while the one on the left was in a "calmer" area of the kiln 8) .
