Hello from Singapore!

by Qilin » Aug 31st, '11, 10:08

Hi, I'm Singaporean and looking forward to meeting other members in Singapore (if there are any). Would love to know where you buy your tea, teaware and your favorite teahouses!

I'm concentrating on Chinese tea at present.

Am enjoying the pictures of members' teapets, I hope to acquire one of my own one day!

There are (or have been, maybe not so everpresent) a few teachatters from Singapore, most bemoan the fact that tea resources in Singapore are not as abundant as in Malaysia. Maybe you should cross the water and meet a few Malaysian Teachatters, we have a few dozen, though perhaps only 5 or 6 are on the boards regularly.

Thanks for the welcome! KL does seem more vibrant, it's more a niche scene here (most people tend to be older), however I don't go to Malaysia often.

hallo qilin! im from singapore too, and am one of those bemoaning the lack of tea culture in singapore :)

tea's pretty expensive in singapore. i like pek sin choon for cheap everyday stuff. time of tea has more upmarket stuff (i'd go there if u love yancha).

Hah, I've visited both! I haven't bought tea from pek sin choon yet but I've bought from time of tea (yep pricey).

So you are in Chicago atm? Wonder where the sg drinkers are hiding!

I am also from Singapore. Well my usual tea shop is a small secluded one in shaw towers second floor. They have a small variety but sufficent amount of pu er and I trust the owner and the prices are reasonable.

Being to the bigger establishments like Yi Xing Xuan and Tea Chapter. Both got the ambience. And I have purchased stuff from them as well.

For JB, if you do drive in , there are 3 tea shops I know. One is purple cane which is at Jaya Jusco. This is one like a francise or sorts.

The other 2, both in sentosa area. One opp.大马market and the other is beside the sentosa shopping area , beside 竹林restuarant which is famous for their paper wrapped chicken.
