Favorite Rooibos

by jashnew » Nov 26th, '07, 23:30

I decided to list my 5 favorite rooibos.

1. Peppermint/chocolate
2. Vanilla
3. Orange
4. Lemon
5. Green Rooibos without any flavoring

I drink Rooibos every morning for breakfast. I feel that way I get some non decaffeinated fluid in me. Then I drink my tea around 10:00 A.M.

Heh, I'm sort of the opposite. I drink rooibos at night when I want tea but know I shouldn't drink it. I think the citrusy flavors work well with it. I have this one blend that has a lot of tropical things added to it, and it's great. Outside of that, I like the vanilla and this stuff called "Pumpkin Rooibos" from Dragonwater. It doesn't taste like pumpkin at all, but it's still pretty darn delicious.

I am just like you, Mary. I need to have my rooibos, either Rooibos Vanilla, the Foxtrot blend by Adagio- rooibos, peppermint, and chamomile, or this one Day in Provence blend by Tay Teas, which is rooibos, rose petals, and currants- before I go to bed. Me and my mom usually have a cup together, we've made it quite a tradition.

Rooibos, I've only had 5 different kinds, all from Adagio. I've got 3 more on their way though.

These 5, ranked highest to lowest:
1. Rooibos Orange
2. Rooibos Almond
3. Rooibos Mango
4. Rooibos Vanilla
5. Rooibos Caramel

The orange and the almond are simply amazing. I'm really looking forward to trying the others. On their way are the tropical, berry, and peach.

Green rooibos (unoxidized) is my favorite overall. But these are my favorites of the oxidized variety:

vanilla rooibos (adagio)
chai rooibos (specialteas)
african autumn (harney)

Why doesn't Adagio have Green Rooibos?

by hally429 » Jan 22nd, '08, 13:38

I prefer green Rooibos because it is mild and sweet. Sometimes regular Rooibos has a medicinal taste to me depending on the flavor. Why hasn't Adagio added this to it's inventory?

I like my rooibos plain (and organic). If I need to flavor it up I could always add something to it--the possibilities are endless! I actually quite enjoy drinking it plain with a little sugar or honey. I have added milk a few times and that makes for a nice change. Maybe I'll try using mortar and pestle-ground, homemade chai masala to it ;)

I am from South Africa and I remember really liking the Five Roses brand. Not sure if they export it, though.

I bought tins of vanilla and caramel from Adagio and I blend them to get a more complex yet still sweet drink for the evening. I also have a rooibos chai from Harneys that's delicious and interesting. I tried their African autumn but it's too tart for me so I gave it to a friend

I came home with a giant box each of their breakfast blend and their rooibos when I visited last year. :)
