Started the day with some leftover cool-brewed oolong, but not sure if the problem was my burnt tongue or wrong proportions--not a great start.

Now the teaDay is improving with some nice Bai Hao Yin Zhen from Jing. I had finished off the portion of this one I kept at home, and today I'm in the other office where I had a stash. It's so much nicer than the rather antique leaves I got from my local tea shop last time. And poor scorched tongue is happier iwth this than it was with the cool oolong.

Today I drank a gen mai cha, green tea with peach from eastern shore teas, and now I am having rose white tea.

Oh I have a question! I was looking in my cabinet at some teas I bought by the pound, nearly a year ago, I'm worried they will go bad before I drink them all. What is the shelf life of a loose tea and how do I know if it is expired? :oops:

It all depends on what kind of tea and what did you have them stored in really. But, generally, I'd say 3 months.

When in doubt throw it out.

sounds like you should invest in some Pu-Erh.

I am drinking some 1989 Xiaguan Shupu. It is fantastic! I know few people think of aging shupu, but it can be quite remarkable, and it does age beautifully.

I hope everybody is having a spectacular tea-filled day!

I'd think when in doubt, brew it up and see how it tastes.

Had lots of TKY at work today. Thinking some pu soon, though not sure specifics yet.

Only green tea would expire in that time frame...anything else is probably still fine.

Don´t worry about it too much, tea gets stale not spoils...worst case if it´s past it´s time is that it will make a very bland brew.

Grrrreat TD! Began with a tasting of Yame Yame Takumi from Zencha with the Mrs. Next up, Hachiju-hachiya from Maiko.

And finished with an "awesome" session of Kame Gyokuro from O-Cha.

Early this rainy florida morning, I had some adagio's ooooohhh darjeeling and now this afternoon iam having adagio's white blueberry tea and now the rain is gone and it is sunny.(80s) :wink:

I just finished steeping some earl grey white tea. Today was exciting because I went with my high school to look at a local college.

Yesterday I shared some of the Ye Sheng wild tea log I had prepared with one of my tea-buddies who I'd given several Phoenix oolongs & Dan Congs last month. She loved the Ye Sheng (it's a bright and pleasant tea that is hard to dislike), and she said she'd been loving the Dan congs, particularly sharing several cups with her 88 year old neighbor, who is just adoring the teas I'm sending home with Thelma. So nice to share the pleasure of good teas, and to see the tea-ripples spreading out from person to person.

Today, enjoying some Lao Tai Di Qing Xin Oolong from Taiwan, a lovely deep roast oolong without the deep roasted bitterness of so many. Just sweet, deep, toasty, and mellow. Mmmm.

Oh dear, we're into Saturday and no new TeaDay topic. So this one will have to continue on...

Today was a mix of tea highs and tea lows. Tea highs: a really excellent cool-brewing of some Shade-grown Tie Guan Yin, not quite enough to fully last through a long day's driving explorations, and another wonderful session with the Gu Zhu Zi Sun that just keeps giving a little bit more wonderfulness, although this 9th infusion should probably be the last.

Tea lows: trying to find a tea shop that wasn't there. Sigh. Apparently they're an online shop only, as the addresses I googled turned out to be in the middle of a residential neighborhood, and a packaging and shipping store with mailboxes. Oh well. I consoled myself with a visit to Wing Hop Fung's other location, and bought a couple of interesting-looking puerhs, but not the $1500/beeng 1950s CNNP cakes.
