Just hope commercialization of another drink will not kill off Pu erh tea farming in Yunnan.

Let them boycott. If its a good tea we buy and enjoy it.5 years down the road who will remember what someone said but enjoy a well aged tea.

Let them boycott. If its a good tea we buy and enjoy it.5 years down the road who will remember what someone said but enjoy a well aged tea.
I tried it and was not particularly impressed, did not buy any and I found this tea sold in only one Taetea store so far. Will check it in Chengdu tea market this weekend.
Sometimes the Chinese politicking is very subtle, the salesman replying in that manner is because it may not have any personal "benefit" to him.....

Found a lot wider range of older pu erh's sold at the Chengdu tea market, because the drinking population here are mostly green teas consumers and pu erh maybe quite unaffordable to most.
Taetea stores around the market still shelf the 2009 "tuan cha", a 357gm ripe tea shaped in a complete ball, packed in a red box. There are still some cartons of 2009 loong ju, which is sold out in Beijing.
Tried all 4 teas of this Taetea sample packs of the 1911 Centennial Set. If the sample packs are what the four 1911gm bings taste like, I am quite impressed. This tea quality is definitely different from that of the 357gm green and red series.
This vendor refuses to sell me more than 6 packs of ripe teas from the late 90's from a now defunct factory. His wife cannot stomach too much raw teas, so this teas was meant for her. Yunnan stored and has a typical rich, sweet, old cheng xiang flavor, good huigan and very inexpensive for a tea of that quality and age.
Don't know much about this boutique brand made by the shop owner, himself from Lanchang. Production is limited for this 2011 spring pick gu shu bings. He's been doing this for 4 years and tells me little of what tree it is from and sells to consumers only. 200gm bings that infuses over 30+ times, good huigan, smooth, rich body with honey fruity floral and every infusion is fruity sweet. Brewing it with Lanchang spring water brings out a wider flowery bloom. The dried leaves smells perfume like.
Proves that the Yunnan region still has so many hidden gems (and perhaps a few duds too).

The Ai Lao was the best bang for the buck of all the teas. The Mu Shu was probably the most intense cha qi filled tea of the bunch. All were very good. I should write up more detailed tasting notes soon.

Yes. I should put it all together in one! I did find the '10 and the '05 (Jas-e tea) to be quite similar. I thought the '10 was a better deal for the money.
