Anyone ever *want* to like tea?

by Johnnyxs676 » Oct 22nd, '11, 17:17

I wanted to share my tea experience and get some reactions and see if anyone else has any similar experiences.
Since beginning my tea drinking a few years ago I'm fining myself wanting to like tea because its healthy, although I think the taste may not be that great. There are some varites that I really enjoy, which I frequently drink, but I change flavors and types for variety and to keep it interesting. I have found that drinking tea helps with my energy levels and herbals have helped my sinuses stay cleared so I've definitely experienced some of the benefits of tea. The smell of the tea is really good and I'm always drawn to new varieties to try. My question would be this: How much does the taste of your tea influence your decision to drink it taking into account the benefits that you have experienced from it. Do you drink strictly for the taste or benefits? What do you get personally from your tea drinking experience?
My tea experience is starting to turn spiritual and I'll have a follow-up question after this one, thanks.

Taste first, health benefits second for me... they're all good for you.

Sounds like you need to get more into some really flavorful teas, like gyokuro or really nice aged sheng puerh or something to break the rut. Not sure what you've tried....

I've never had any problem with "wanting" to like tea. I find my main problems are with my wallet and my caffeine tolerance  .

I drink tea primarily because I enjoy drinking tea.

I haven't experienced any health benefits because of drinking tea.

Whats not to like about tea? herbals are another category that I drink sometimes specifically for the health benefits. There are many herbals you can get that are great tasting such as Rooibos also Chamomile and one of my favorites is Holy basil. I drink tea because I like the taste. The health benefits are just a bonus. I want to know what tea you are drinking?

Out of all things to be taken for health benefits, tea isn't one that has to be forced on me. Its taste is first and foremost the most important reason why I drink it; tea is DELICIOUS! As others have said, any health benefits is an added bonus.

Johnny -

Drink what you like, like what you drink. someone else came up with that, not me.

I have had tea that tasted kinda bacon-y. Though I do admit I'd lay off a bit if it were that unhealthy.

Though I definitely drink tea for taste, not any supposed benefits.
