TeaDay Thursday Nov 10, 2011 Call the Cops!

by Chip » Nov 10th, '11, 00:47

TeaDay returns but with a non tea topic ...

Welcome fellow TeaChatters to another TeaDay, shall we brew, and then share what is in our cups today, all day? I say yes. You can also reflect back on your TeaDay if you need to.

The last few days we discussed our teas of the month for October.

Today's TeaPoll (well, not exactly a TeaPoll, well, not a TeaPoll at all) and discussion topic ... let's get frivolous and get to know each other a little more. I believe virtually everyone has a snack vice ... or more than one. But what is your numero uno snack vice. This is a tough one ... to pick just one ... lots of luck!

I am looking forward to sharing TeaDay with everyone. Bottoms up, refill, repeat many times ...

... ending the TD (or beginning the new one) with a remnant blend of 4 different sencha which are harmonizing like a bad barbershop quartet ... not very well.

But in Snowdrift ... the tea is better than it is in reality ...

My ex-girlfriend was on the Atkins diet on and off throughout our relationship. Not a lot of snack options there- but I did develop a taste for pork rinds (which are zero carbs). Gross, I know...

Now the thing about pork rinds is once in a while you get one in the bag that's extra crunchy and satisfying... the elusive "white buffalo" if you will...

Now I found out they make these things called "cracklins'" that are basically a big bag of the super crunchy good pork rinds. Why didn't someone tell me this earlier? All the choice nugs?! It's like the gyokuro of pork rinds!

I'm dangerously close to becoming a redneck with this stuff...

Currently trying to plow my way through a bad bag of gyokuro (kuradashi "premium" from Hibiki-an... terrible), and drinking some unknown very tasty gaoshan on my days off.

I need chocolate almost as much as I need tea. I often find myself craving it during my tea sessions or before bed. Though I also enjoy pretzels and cookies and cake and ice cream and just about all sweets. No dried meats though.

Drinking pouchong at the moment. I'm at work. :(

Big fan of chocolate in almost any form, just so long as its milk chocolate. One time I ate a piece of chocolate just before drinking some Puerh and the combination of flavors was a revelation. Still, I would shy away from a premixed Puerh.

In my cup this morning, the 15th steep of the 2005 Golden Award Liu-Pao from Auhckw (or purchased via Auhckw). This tea is excellent on its own and doesn't need any help from chocolate.

Whikle chocolate is high on the list...... as a category..... it is "ice cream". Chocolate ice cream covers a lot of ground!

best,

I have an addiction to Popcorn, so I think you all know which one I picked. While I like a lot of the other items, none of it is nearly as easy to make as a batch of popcorn. Not to mention Popcorn is one of those snack foods its normally to enjoy somewhat warm.

I can't resist some plump green grapes or clementines/mandarins/most orange-type fruits in general or durian or any number of other fruits. Always go a little over board in snacking on fruit in spring/summer knowing that they'll be too expensive/not as good in winter.

Just finished some matcha, trying to decide if I want to take some, and if so which, oolong to work with me or if I want to just drink some of the tea I already have there.

I enjoy tea even more after eating some fruit.
Unlike tea I like eating honey or chocolate before coffee.

I am making Nepalese Gold Himalaya FF now and starting studying at last today.

salty and crunchy for sure....when I get the munchies I always reach for crackers or chips

I certainly like quite a few of the other things listed but they aren´t what could qualify as vices in the same way.

Really nothing jumps out even though I do enjoy many of those things on the list.
I don't snack very much anymore, and for some reason I am just not attracted to sugar esp during colder months.

I suppose if someone was carting around dimsum and sushi at my house it would be my vice

Some tong tien xian dancong from houde at work. Went little leaf lots of water for first infusion (roughly 2-3g/9oz), left a root, then brewed long time and just poured cup by cup directly into cup until it was gone. Though enjoyable not nearly on the level of concentrated small short infusions I had two nights ago. Though I haven't really nailed this one down I figure packed very heavy with very short infusions is where this tea will really shine. A promising lightly oxidized greener dancong.

I chose other, because now I would say peanuts. If Cheese or chocolate was available here, I would have a really tough choice, but since they are not, I would have to say peanuts.

I miss cheese!!!
