Anticipation - when a new Tea Shop is about to open

A friend from the pub is a website designer. He has just completed a design for a customer.

They have (in addition to payment ) sent him several samples of Chinese Tea as a thank you.

He has no interest in trying them, so has promised to give them all to me.

He has no idea what they are, so I do not know what is coming

The Website, is not officially open yet, and merely displays a countdown timer to the grand opening!

Oh the nervous anticipation Will it be high end? Will it be well chosen? Will he stock my favourites

Or will it be mass market oriented, with low quality products?

When you hear of a new source, are you eager to find out more, or does the information leave you blase and cold?

I don't know when the samples will be thrust into my hand, but the countdown is still 8 days away.

The operation is run from North Wales, only 1 hours drive away! I hope it is High End.

Here, there is little hope. I know of 1 and only 1 tea exclusive shop here. I met the owner 12 years ago when I started to seriously drink tea. She has slipped into an easy mainstream existance and product line.

But I hold out some hope, she attended WTE-East and indicated she might be improving her product line along with a new location.

I really know what you mean, especially once you step into smaller cities in the US.
It's often hard to convince vendors to switch to more expensive teas.
The prices strike fear in their old business model.
Perhaps the thing that brings vendors to change the most is if they themselves change their tea drinking habits. Sometimes it takes a personal realization before good advice is actually listened to. Maybe for christmas you can buy her a nice teapot and a couple bags of good fuka.

Water too. It's harder for a tea to move you if the water is simply just not good.

If brewing for frequent infusions (of 100ml) in a gaiwan, use between 4 and 4.5g of Oolong Tea, and brew the first infusion for over two minutes at a temperature close to boiling point, increasing the length of time for each subsequent infusion.



If brewing in an yixing teapot (of 150ml), use 6g or more of Oolong Tea for 3 minutes or longer for each infusion.
