Yes. I should put it all together in one! I did find the '10 and the '05 (Jas-e tea) to be quite similar. I thought the '10 was a better deal for the money.
I was also asking fracol. :D But thanks!!

Maybe I will write a few notes! Unfortunately I don't think my experience with puerh (or lack of it) will do justice.

Still in that experimenting stage so to speak. :)

#9: 2011 Yunnan Sourcing "Cha Tou Sheng Yun" Ripe Pu-erh, 250 gram brick

#10: 2009 Big Classic "Jing Mai Cha Tou" Ripe Pu-erh, 250 gram brick

#11: 2011 Yunnan Sourcing "Mang Fei" Aged Mao Cha Mini Raw Pu-erh tong (There was a little mix-up we are working out.)
The #11 should have been:
2011 Yunnan Sourcing "Ai Lao Mountain" Wild Arbor Pu-erh

The Ai Lao was the best bang for the buck of all the teas. The Mu Shu was probably the most intense cha qi filled tea of the bunch. All were very good. I should write up more detailed tasting notes soon.
Nice selection. I am planning to buy a couple of YS cakes from this year too The nan po zhai, mu shu cha and gao shan zhai are very attractive but pricey as well. I already bought the 2011 wuliang which turned to be impressive for the price, I will probably buy also his ai lao brother. With the last order I received a sample of 2011 YS shang chun which is a blend, I had only one session but I liked it a lot.

2011 Xiaguan Golden Ribbon Brick Raw - Didn't want to buy this initially till I saw the box. So I just bought 1 pack of 4 for the sake of having it. It comes with a paperbag but I didn't get it cause need to buy 2 packs. How's the tea? No idea, no samples yet.

Kept in a corner of the kitchen cabinet here in my home in Singapore were 2 tins of pu erh teas, I have to air it, the tins have been left there forgotten for over 20 years. The company phone numbers were then 7 digits, a web search indicates this company still has a presence in Hong Kong. Hope it is still drinkable...smells aged, and slightly musky.

Are you buying these at the Trade Fair in KL? Is it worth a visit and are there anything of interest that you can report on? Appreciate letting all of us know. Thanks

No this is not from the trade fair. Got it from a teashop who specially brought in some for us.

This tea fair is ok only. The other tea trade fair few months ago at tropicana mall is better. Diff organizer. That is more worth to visit as more booths and interesting events.

As for this event, i have posted some info here earlier.

Old cha qi, very smooth, old camphor, subtle sweet and sour, astringent. Mellow mouth feel, not overpowering. The years mellowed this, I would have thought that storing in a tin would not age it and change it's characteristics, perhaps someone can tell me if it does or not.

Would this tea tasted the same 20+ years ago out of this closed tin container?

I cant seem to get my pictures to resize small enough to upload but i'll try again later so just a list for now.

From Henry Trading co.
1992 Menghai 7542 - seriously wet = $130
1998 Menghai 8582 = $200
1998 CNNP 7592 raw not shou = $90
1992-93 Toucha (2x250g)= $65
1992 Xiaguan Toucha (100g) = $30

From Taiwan store that was recommended by someone here.
1996 CNNP 7582? = $130
1996 Xiaguan toucha (100g) = $27

From random Taiwan shops
They obviously are not as old as advertised. Both still have a strong storage smell with some frosting. Curious to see how these are once they air out for a few weeks.
20yr 7542 = $135
15yr 7542 = $75

Just under $1000. I knew tea in HK was gonna be expensive but it turned out to be even more than i thought so everything i got was the cheaper stuff being sold. I Cant really justify $500 for a single cake yet.

2003 勐海云梅春茶
2003 měng hǎi yún méi chūn chá

aka 2003 Pink Dayi Raw. This is claimed by the teashop that it is a special order Dayi to Taiwan. But we couldn't find any information about this in the books/magazine/online.

I have been wanting to buy this long ago but didn't cause it could be a fake. If based on the back of of the wrapping, it is not Menghai/Dayi kind of wrapping.

Taste? For those that have tried my KLP2 (1997: CNNP Wild Yiwu Camphor Raw), this is 90% similar. The difference is that this is slightly younger, has a little astringency and not as smooth. But in terms of taste of zhang xiang (camphor) it is nearly identical. So if to evaluate this pink by itself, it is a really good tea with strong zhang xiang. Given the same time, this could be as good as 97.

We tried the 97 and Pink together and find it really identical. We were discussing what other tea that is similar to 97 taste, and this pink is the best candidate. I have tried this many times, and finally decided to buy today. Price... of course cheaper than the 97 cover version.
