by Chip » Nov 28th, '11, 00:08

Greetings TeaFans, welcome to a NEW TeaDay. Please stop by and share what is in your cup with us throughout the day. Also discuss the topic of the day. Do you have a brand new TEA of the month?

For the past few days we discussed your inventory of all things tea related.

Today's TeaPoll and discussion topic. What was your tea of the month for November? Please share details. It will be interesting to see how many of you have a brand new and perhaps a surprising FAVE TEA to share!

We are looking forward to sharing this TeaDay with everyone. Bottoms up.

I checked black, same old, and new fave--it's 1:45 a.m. here, so this is for Sunday, 11-27. Black is for Earl Grey; Same Old, Same Old is for Earl Grey, and New Fave is for Earl Grey. Say whaaaat? I drink alot of EG--it's a fave of mine, especially in the morning (I'm not a coffee person). This morning I tried a new (for me) brand. I cracked open a new tin of Earl Grey organic loose tea by Tea Forte. Wow! I could smell the bergamot even before I lifted the inner lid! I brewed it as I always do black tea--for 5-6 minutes. It was rich, hearty and the flavor was very intense, as was the aroma. All in all, a great brew for me to start my day. :D

This month I have tasted many Oolong (DHP, RG, ShuiXian, DC, TGY) that I like.. but as much as I like them I don't feel like parting my money for them... so my fav tea is still pu... and Pu of Nov are...

2011 Xia Guan Golden Colour Mark Xiang Raw
http://www.teachat.com/viewtopic.php?f= ... 15#p210005

2003 Pink Dayi Raw (probably fake)
http://www.teachat.com/viewtopic.php?f= ... 30#p211538

I would easily rate this 2 as my top 5 y2011 'most ready to drink pu' in my collection.

Xiaguan will be value for money, cause 6 years old material compressed in y2011 and taste like typical Menghai. Taste is probably like a 2001/2002 tea. Raw material kept for 6 years has fasten the aging process.

Pink dayi, the best/closest alternative to KLP2 (y97 zhang xiang) at a price that is still bearable.

I've been mainly drinking through my collection of green tea, but nothing in particular. October I bounced around and ended with a few Oolongs, but then in November I found myself drinking more and more green tea.

I'll probably hit some black varieties in December, but I don't really have a favorite or one that I stick to because I like trying new things.

I have just started on puerh this month and have particularly enjoyed the 2007 Meng Ba Na from Canton Tea Co. It makes me think that I shall really enjoy aged puerhs when I can finally afford them.

No tea Of the month for November: lots of nice tea, but not a lot of moments that really stood out in the crowd during a busy travel-filled month.

Enjoying some snow dragon white tea from Wing
Hop Fung, after a day of sadly under brewed Lao cha tou puerh.

No one tea stands out for me, but the teaware of the month is my new Red Blossom yixing pot.

I brought some high quality Jasmine Pearls to my sister's for the 2nd Thanksgiving dinner on Saturday. The water from their special hot water tap is around 180 degrees, which is just right for this tea. Everyone chose it over coffee, and it's a good intro to loose tea.

I also added 2 washi canisters from her local teashop to my collection, which now numbers 3. They're the perfect size for 3 Upton sample tins.

It was close but I picked Chinese oolong, specifically, the Mandarin's 3 stamp sx was my fave for November. A very close second was the 2011 temomicha from the Kansai competition.

Today I have been drinking 2011 DHP from Seven Cups, but no recommendation from me.

I guess I will have to go with same old ... mostly. It was sencha, but a new one. Watsuka Organic from the O-C. Really nice asamushi.

Watsuka and Guricha from Xell were alternated these days. And a few oolong ...
