Recommendation for a Luzianne lover?

by lalimalina » Nov 29th, '11, 03:24

Hello!

I grew up drinking Luzianne iced tea. Now that I am developing more of a tea habit, I am looking for a good loose leaf substitute. I enjoy all kinds of tea, hot and iced. I have tried chilling several types and blends of black tea, and while I enjoy them I crave that specific Luzianne taste every now and then.

The problem is, when I make Luzianne tea it doesn't quite satisfy me anymore. It tastes stale and bitter, even when properly brewed. Basically, I want the exact same blend (or as close to it as I can get) just a fresher, higher quality version of it.

Any suggestions from tea lovers who know what Luzianne tastes like?

I reckon almost any loose leaf ceylon black tea will get you there but since

I think you will really enjoy the wide range that darjeelings have to offer, If you order from somewhere like thunderbolt (or in that range of quality) capturing the Luzianne flavour will be pushed far far back into your mind

Thanks for the reply! I do adore Darjeelings - they're my favorites, so great suggestion! Really I'm just looking for something that has that nostalgic value. I guess I just need to try all the teas I possibly can until I find the right one... Sounds like a great excuse to go on a sampling spree :)

Ceylon Sonata or any Kenilworth estate ceylon black tea.

My favorite tea for old fashioned iced tea... Hands down!

Peace,
Mike
