Sat/Sun TeaDay 1/7-8/12 Last TeaOrder KaChing?

by Chip » Jan 7th, '12, 08:15

Welcome to TeaDay and another weekend for most of us.
Make some TEA and take a moment to share your cup with us. Stop by often and see what other TeaChatters are sipping ... drinking ... chugging in order to get through the day!!! And post as often as you want.

The last few days we discussed 'Your Tea of the Year'. Please continue to post and discuss yesterday's topic.

Today's Daily TeaPoll question, should be a fun one, getting into our TeaBudgets and high TeaFinances. Be honest now, how much was your last round of TeaOrders for leaf only, not including any TeaWare, etc???

In your posts, feel free to share/confess to your fellow TeaChatters. To our international posters, feel free to disclose in your country's currency. Currency Converter.

I am looking forward to sharing this TeaDay with everyone ... Bottoms up!

My last tea order came to $113.20. I was re-stocking my 2011 greens and trying out some new oolong teas. So far, not too disappointed.

I had my daily matcha this morning (Sakuraka), and the rest of the day I've been drinking iced Sakimidori oolong. :D

Haven't tallied it up yet, but I can tell you for sure it's well over $200. I'm just into tea, just discovered teachat and DON'T ask me what I've spent on teaware

But it's all good........

$67 + shipping for some Japanese greens. I still have an unopened package of 2010 gyo and I'd rather spend more on shipping and place smaller orders. The freshness is worth it!

I just remembered that I have a washi canister waiting to be used. Time to open the Kamejirushi and give it a try!

Just placed an Essence of Tea (EoT) order.
It consisted mainly of YanCha. Included was a bit of 50's Liu Bao, sample of LBZ and some loose '70's pu.

My last two tea orders were both quite large--I was nearly out of Dan Cong, and I ordered a lot of mostly green and oolong teas from Norbu. Despite best efforts, though, I seem to be low on Wuyi yancha, and another order may be in the works soon.

Today started with some of the Gu Zhu Zui Sun from Norbu, the tea that prompted that last order, and my last tea last night happened to be very nice session with some TH Dan Cong--2007 Po Tou/Ginger Flower Fragrance. And yesterday's afternoon thermos of Jin Guan Yin (fall 2011) oolong from Norbu was quite well received when shared with the usual suspects.

I usually buy larger quantities, so my orders are usually above $200.

Finally cracked open the Manten matcha and it was exquisite. I might treat myself to this once every couple of years.

2010 shui jin gui from Jing Tea Shop this morning, also delicious.

Chip, congrats on your speaking gig in Las Vegas!

My last purchase of tea was only 2 bags of sencha totaling 80 ish USD including shipping from Japan.

Began the TD with one of these teas, Yutaka Midori from O-Cha with the Mrs. Next up, Guricha from Hakoniwado.

Finishing up with 2006 Sheng from MTR. This will carry over to tomorrow.

Last online purchase was around $28 - unfortunately, since the recipient is a member here, and it's a birthday present for him, I can't go into detail as to what it is - I will only say that it's from Dao Tea.

I just recently bought a bag of Koiaji sencha from a small store here in North Carolina. I've never had it before, and it made for a good learning experience. The BF and I brewed it up this morning - it was good, but not in-your-face insofar as flavour, etc that I expect from a good deep-steamed sencha. Or maybe I'm just spoiled

Peace, love, and tea -
Jess

Most recent was from jing at about 150 (avg order varies).

Got me a rainbow of things to explore

Some Ding Gu Da Fang is about to be brewed, rubbing my hands in anticipation since the mao feng I recently opened from really exceeded my expectations

I've had lovely teas from Jing, and an order from them is always highly anticipated. Enjoy!

Well technically I didn't do the spending, but my boyfriend just ordered me four samplers from Verdant Tea totaling just under $50 as a belated Christmas gift. Really looking forward to trying out some new stuff!

You guys are much more dedicated than I; usually the only time I can justify having an order of tea go over $30-40 is when I'm trying to hit some sort of free shipping threshold.
