Friday the 13th TeaDay 1/13/2012 TeaPassion Evolution?
Welcome to a new TeaDay everyone! I am looking forward to talking TEA today!
The last few days we discussed our "Lemon Tea of the Year." Please continue to discuss this topic.
Today's topic was inspired by an IM chat with Xell.
So, inquiring minds want to know if you are as passionate about your tea as you were a year ago, more passionate, or has your TeaPassion waned? Thanks for the topic, Xell!
Please stop by often and share with us your brews throughout the day. As stated above, I am looking forward to our TeaPassion Discussions ... bottoms up!

I'm such a newb all I can see is going up not down
Consumption by volume has fallen, but variety is still on the rise and so is the teajoy after a good session!
Some 2005 menghai sheng from jing at work
Hum I like this one, young bitter, kinda thick, leaves relatively intact, nice huigan, maybe consider this for my first ever puerh cake to age
Anyone have recommendations for a nice sheng that is 2000-2006 that you feel will be very good to you in about 10 years?

I could say I'm more passionate it since I just recently started drinking leaf teas.
As soon as I get some time on my hands, I'm going to try to develop some tea-based recipes. I've actually gone to school for pastry work, though I haven't had a lot of time to try things out recently. Really want to make some tea-based sorbet.

No change this year in my passion for tea. Fewer new classes of tea to discover, but many more teas are now 'old friends' that need to be visited regularly, and there are still plenty of new discoveries to go.
Today's tea is one that was new to me last year, "White Oolong" from Norbu. It's an unusually processed tea from Taiwan with some characteristics of an oolong, and a white-tea like delicacy at the same time. I have been quite passionately enjoying it.

Some of the passion has dwindled, more a staple enjoyment than huge passion these days.

I'm fairly new to tea, so it's easy to get more passionate i guess. And my teaware finally feels like extension of me, not some foreign subject. Like with bicycle, a while after you learn how to ride it you don't even think how to keep balance or how to turn.
I got for myself a "winter cup", thick yunomi ~330ml. Big sized cup is perfect for genmaicha and hojicha. And most important, tea doesn't get cold too fast!

I think I am simply used to the passion to the point that I have to remind myself occasionally. I seem to be taking my passion for granted. But I am likely as passionate about tea as I was a year ago.
Began the TD with Xell's Guricha Tokujo with the Mrs. Next up, Yutaka Midori from O-Cha. Worthy teas to be passionate about.

My Infuser mug holds 13 ounces so maybe this afternoon I'll have a big mug of genmaicha. I'll start the day with some sheng Puerh that could easily go for 13 infusions.

I answered maybe because I am recovering from a bit of a rough spot when I did not get to drink tea all that often and my interest waned considerably.
But I am enjoying a great tea. And this teapot has never looked more happy, its got a really nice shine on it today.

Sorry I haven't been around much of late.... suddenly got sick and was in the hospital for a tiny bit. Released and on the mend now.
More passionate than ever. Tea and the making of teawares figure large in my life.
And if one checks "I stopped drinking tea" in the poll, does it automatically unsubscribe the person from TeaChat?
best,
..............john

This may sound insane, but for me discovering high-end loose leaf was a bit like a relationship... The first year or two I was in love, then perhaps the passion cooled a bit to the steady burn of a long-term affair...
8 years later we are still going strong, but I am not quite a intensely obsessed as that first couple years when it was all still so fresh and new

Glad to hear you are on the mend, John!

Well, it is more like an eject button ... and the former member is catapulted off the forum.

I suspect this happens quite a lot with tea drinkers. Sometimes their passion is reignited , sometimes they flounder indefinitely, and sometimes they [unspeakable].
I guess it is this way with most passions, though nice teaware can often make it harder to walk away from tea.

Ha ha....what a question for me to find after a long absence from TeaChat.
I have definitely become "less passionate" than I was a few years ago. I very rarely try anything new and stick to some of my old favorites that are really nothing special but I like them. Like broken leaf Assams and other dark, strong, inexpensive teas.
Glad to see some familiar names still hanging around here and thanks for keeping it going, Chip. I'll stop by more often again since I've been drinking more hot tea as of late and enjoy reading here when I do.
