Sad News From Malaysia

by Herb_Master » Feb 2nd, '12, 19:35

Unexpectedly Miss L M Chong has passed away. The Lady Tea Master from Jiang Dian.

In her very early 60's a bad attack of asthma has robbed the Chinese Tea community in Kuala Lumpur of one of it's most colourful characters.

Under normal circumstances news of her death would have spread rapidly, and many people would have attended her funeral. She passed away the day before Chinese New Year's Eve, the 2 weeks of Chinese New Year are a time of jollity, with hope and laughter, accordingly only a few close friends and family were informed, so as not to sadden others at this festive time.

The news is just now circulating Chinatown.

So sad to hear. Asthma can be such a terrible disease.

I spent 2 hours drinking with her business partner today. Annie Chim.
It was despite such circumstances a very enjoyable 2 hours. I enjoyed some nice Yan Cha, Pu Erh and Dan Cong, and next week shall return again.

Annie was the brains behind the business, but Miss Chong was the teamaster and held all the knowledge about the tea and teaware.
Annie was not able to answer all my questions about the tea and yixing pots I was looking at.

Annie intends to continue the business, she has all the contacts and suppliers used by Miss Chong, and always accompanied her on each visit to China.
