Greetings from soon not to be in Edmonton
I've been combing through the tasting comments and vendor guides on this forum for a while now and I thought I'd jump in too. I drink mostly Japanese and Chinese green teas and a bit of Taiwanese oolongs now and again. Busy sipping on the sencha fukamushi premium from Hibiki-an right now, and seriously eyeing the soft roasted yutaka midori kagoshima on umami-chaya. (Is it just me, or is umami-chaya ridiculously cheap, with the free shipping too!)

Hi SilentChaos and welcome to TeaChat! Hope to see you around the forum.
Umami-Chaya soft roasted YM ... lacked the full throttle YM flavors of the more commonly dicussed O-Cha version of YM (which I have open). Soft Roast just seemed very ... soft, lacking high notes. Still, this may appeal to some.
Free shipping ... is there really such a thing? You do pay for it, it is simply included in the price. Still, some of their offerings were interesting.

Hi Chip,
Hmmmm...I was sitting on the fence between O-Cha and Umami, O-Cha it is then.
hehe I like to pretend there is free-shipping

A wise choice.SilentChaos wrote:O-Cha it is then.
Although I have never ordered from Umami-chaya, you can't go wrong with teas from O-Cha. (I'm due for an O-Cha order myself ....)
Best wishes,
