Thanks for the memory.
My dad used to bring those back from the Aleutian islands in the 70's. Some were way too big to transport. I guess they used to be normal beach flotsam.

Tho ive theoretically sworn off buying anymore pots online [ie i wanted to have my next pot 'in my hand' before parting with cash money] this one caught my eye partly because of its color, and in spite of its decoration.

so i put one bid in, not expecting to succeed.

but on opening the packet at the Delivery office i was pleasantly surprised by its excellent lid fit, and tho the spout seems narrow, the pour is good and precise, stopping up the hole stops pour, its got a neatly made filter, general finish inside is good, seems to have a bit of real age to it, no bootpolish yet, im reconditioning it tho its 260ml

chop on base has a monkey in the corner

im sure ive seen reference on here to a 'monkey' chop, cant find it tho

Japanese Phoenix tea pot. This was my grandmothers I do not know where she got it. I believe from her mother. I am curious about its age. I now use it as a vessel holding water before it goes in the kettle. This gives it a little time out of the platic jug. I don't know if it makes a huge difference in water quality. But it feels alot nicer pouring water from this into the kettle rather than a plastic jug.

Nice pitcher ... probably around the 1920/30s. Earlier would be "Nippon" and later (post wwii) was occupied japan. It is possible it was post post war, but has the look of the 20/30s.

OK, antique and vintage teaware aficionados ... I have made an administrative decision that will I am certain not please everyone. I am going back to the OP's intent for this topic and using this as a basis for this decision.

This topic as I have stated is not an authenticating topic. It is a topic members can freely post their antique/vintage teaware they are using and adoring.

Seems like we need some new blood in here

Republican period pot, nothing too fancy. It's a pickup from Kyoto, Japan. There were lots of things there, and I need to bring more money next time to buy stuff. The rattan pad for the pot is also purchased on this trip from a store that's been in business for 140 years selling teaware, although this particular pad isn't an antique. I should've gotten more of those.
