Any recomendations.

Culture, language, tangibles, intangibles from countries known for tea. China, Japan, Taiwan, Korea, India, etc...

Any recomendations.

by SlientSipper » Mar 10th, '12, 12:32

I just got back from a 5 night stay in the hospital.
I was on life support.
Apparently, I have Asthma,Bronchitis and Pneumonia at once.
I wonder if there is any tea to help open my airways. or speed in my recovery.

WOW! Hope you are the mends :!:

I won't dispense any of my normal Japanese green tea mantra for treatment as I often do.

Luo han guo might soothe the sore throat that being entubed causes, and just about any mint will open the chest a bit, a steaming hot cup of black coffee has been used for asthma before there were any medicines for it.
Get sufficient rest- pneumonia can kick your butt for weeks.

Caffeine is a bronchodialtor, so any real tea should open your airways a bit, so drink what you like and hopefully you will feel better soon :)

There are a couple of cautions I can think of...if your Dr prescribed theophylline as a bronchodialator for you to take thats a primary metabolite of caffeine and you could be increasing your dose a lot without realizing it. Also some antibiotics can alter caffeine metabolism. So it might be worth checking with the Dr before binge drinking tea.

My doctor is being very slow but, I'll be sure to to keep the caffeine binge in check. Many thanks.

Back from the hospital again.
Turns out its staph pneumonia. I also apparently have/had a blood clot in my lungs.
I'm gonna be down for weeks.
This isn't good.

Ouch, so sorry to hear that!!! Please take good care of yourself!

And if the doc allows it, I now recommend Japanese greens. But only if your doctor says yes. I swear there is something magical in those bright green steamed leaves.

Yes, the doc encourages all liquids (except alcohol) I'll see if I can get my hands on some Matcha.

Good news is with an identified pathogen the Dr will be able to select antibiotics that will be effective more easily :)

get lots of rest, enjoy your tea, and hopefully you will mend quickly :)

bummer man,
nice variety of fresh fruits and veggies, citrus esp can be good for clearing out the lungs, congee cooked with walnuts, oatmeal with fruits, and tea. That would be all I would eat. Eating food that is freshly hot can act as an expectorant too.

If you totally don't have an appetite, I wouldn't force yourself to eat. Juice fresh fruits and veggies. Take it very easy on dairy.

I find if I limit the heavy harder to digest foods recovery is much quicker and often more comfortable (sometimes symptoms can be noticeably heightened though for a short time 1-2 days, but the road to recovery is much shorter). Spit whatever your body pushes out of you out. Same for your nose. Good long deep sleep. As much of it as you can comfortably do. Massage wash your face frequently all over. Keep your teeth and tongue clean. These are all things I feel help, maybe something will aid you in recovery.

Hope you feel better soon!

Thanks for all the recommendations.
Currently, I am drinking a blend of Sencha and Gyokuro.
My father got it for me and I brewed them some.
I made my cup a little on the strong side.
but, soon after the first step I felt a soothing feeling in my chest. :)
