Hopeofdawn: Mellow Monk Top Leaf
Hi everyone--I have a package of Mellow Monk's Top Leaf Japanese green tea that no matter how I brew it, I just really can't enjoy it. It's a bit too astringent/Japanese for me. There's still about three ounces left in a 100 gram package, and I'd love to trade it to someone who can enjoy it, perhaps for an interesting/more toasty Chinese green instead.
The tea is less than a month old--I ordered it right around the new year--so if anyone's interested, just let me know.

Chip, I think we can close down this offer--there's been no interest, so I've resorted to drinking the remainder of this myself.

Hopefully you have found the sweet spot! I considered this swap ... but never acted on it. I don't think I ever had Mellow Monk offerings before.

That's too bad, Chip. Paul has some very nice teas -- a bit on the mild side, perhaps, but quite nice nevertheless. Maybe you could try some of his offerings sometime. (Cheap shipping and great customer service are added bonuses.)
Best wishes,

Interesting .... The Top leaf is a very nice tea indeed -- rather mild, but delicious. Seems like a good middle-of-the-road sencha to me (though tastes will vary, of course).
Best wishes,

No argument there. They have been on my radar for too many years without action taken. They are a curiousity due to there offerings. More the Kamair and Guri types.
I will endeavor to change this!
