Love this Kyusu Brandon. There is something about classic blue and white porcelain pieces that just exudes elegance. Some potters may be able to replicate similar styles on modern blue and whites, but I personally feel it is fairly easy to spot the modern ones from the older pieces. I really like how the design is sectioned... almost reminds me of embroidery found on a quilt.brandon wrote:

I was curious if anyone else has had this experience.
I have an older glazed kutani kyusu which has filled in its crackled lines with tea through some pretty heavy use. This is the only older glazed thing I own, (guessing it is about 30-50 years old) and I have noticed a couple interesting things.
Firstly there have been a couple of bumps about half the size of pinky nail forming on the bottom of the pot. what caused this? They don't break through the glaze.
Secondly there is a distinct very glossy, almost slimy texture (slimy but without the slime you know what I mean?) on the inside of the pot. It has shown no detectable detriment to brew quality though. What is this? It seems almost benificial...
Ideas?
