Re: NEWEST CHAPTER! Show Off Your Pots and Cups XVII

Just got this from everyonestea.com

Incredible service. The cup is the thinness I've ever seen. Its glazed on the inside and unglazed on the outside (porcelain) . Just looks classic next to a nice kyusu.

Drinking from it is lovely. The unglazed porcelain feels so so soft on the lip.

About 140ml to the rim

This is the normal sencha cup size. They do a small and a smaller size also. If I was still drinking oolong the smaller ones would be perfect for gong fu sessions.

Beautiful! I love thin cups...

I've been contemplating a pot or two from that shop, is shipping really only ¥1500, regardless of weight?

Yeah and it was like 48 hours to the UK. Insane!

That's about $20, seems kind of expensive to me if you're only getting something small :?:

I'd say that depends on where you live.

For me, I have to rely almost solely on online sources for both tea and teaware since the market for higher-end teas is so small here. It just doesn't pay for local vendors to import a lot of either.

Cups of that level of craftsmanship and quality are very, very hard to come by here, and would almost certainly be as expensive-if not more-as ordering directly from Japan.

The little pot I was thinking of buying is simply not available in any brick-and-mortar store or online shop in Sweden I'm aware of. There's just no market for such items.

So the Kalamazoo Institute of Arts held their Summer Festival Today ( continues tomorrow too). Found a booth full of lots of little goodies, quite a few of them were right sizes and shapes for teaware, and also some interesting vases. The booth was hosted by a local potter Julie Devers http://www.newgrangepottery.com/

Hey D,
Both these recently posted yunomi I purchased at Teance.
They hosted works from ceramisists across the country including: Andy Balmer, Carl Borgeson, Robert Briscoe, Matt Hyleck, Shawn Ireland, Kent McLaughlin, & McKenzie Smith.
The pieces I picked up are both by the same artist, but I'm not sure which - I'm in the process of finding out (I did not meet the artist, and when I bought them I neglected to ask).
Cheers.

Just heard from my source that the bamboo motif and the tea leaf/ polka dot motif yunomis are by artist Kyle Carter.
Cheers.
