New bowl, new tea.

An inexpensive blue-and-white affair off of eBay, and Kyo Mukashi from Maikoteas.
Shot seconds before one of the cats stuck his head in the bowl, climbed into my lap and generally made a mess.
I liked this matcha even though I couldn't pick up a lot of nuances because of my cold. Think I caught a whiff of chocolate when I was whisking it, though.

This bowl is by togei, it is a woodfire bowl, as some of you may know I highly value woodfire yaki. nice Ido style
"face" has a nice iron underglaze,

lots of crazing to fill with tea

koudi

and tenkei tori

This bowl is very light and makes a dull sound like rakuyaki

From this morning.

The unusual colour combination interested me.
As usual I was the sole bidder-either I have bad taste or there's something else I'm unaware of. Maybe I'm the patron saint of unloved teabowls on eBay ^^

I was just thinking that was a bowl I might not have considered picking at first glance, but how lovely it is when contrasted with the matcha, and considered in a leisurely way.

Yeah, my first thought was "now that's just...ugly" but it kinda grew on me.

that set up is called Ryakubon, it is an informal temae that can be done with a tetsubin. The tea ware and utensils = Chadogu. The act of serving tea in this manor = bonryakudemae, or serving tea on a round tray.
