brewing Yuuki-cha hime fuki
anyone ever brew this? I am not a black tea drinker but thought I would give this a try, not really sure what kind of leaf to water ratios to go with. tried brewing it like i would a keemun and it was NOT good just incredibly bitter.

Yeah I've had this one before, and it can turn out pretty bitter. I didn't find the included instructions all that helpful. Anyway...
My best results were 1 teaspoon per 100ml of water short steep style (wasn't a great resteeper though), or 1 teaspoon per 250/300ml of water western style.

Often, when I get a tea I don't know anything about, I will use a shiboridashi, 100ml approx., 5g of leaf. Short brew maybe 10-15sec. This should give you some idea of which direction to pursue. Black teas often perform very well with gongfu style brewing.blairswhitaker wrote:anyone ever brew this? Yeah. Tead has right. But I proposed brew 5-10 sec. 15 its to much. Or less than 5g. When I brew best quality CHINA! black tea i use 5g to 90ml and i start from 5 sec.

its because its made from benifuku. benifuku is always bitter, but according to some pages benifuku is said to help against allergies.Dorothy wrote:Yeah I've had this one before, and it can turn out pretty bitter. I didn't find the included instructions all that helpful. Anyway...

just tried it again.. i didn't use teaspoon but must have been the size of 2 teaspoons for 300 ml and i had it let it step for about 30 seconds to 1 minute something... i didn't watch the time but the taste was nice not too bitter.. somehow i remembered it wrong, though it was much more bitter, blairswhitaker wrote:anyone ever brew this?
