Salty candy + matcha sounds intriguing! And the chawan is beautiful-so black inside. Makes me think of deep space. =)

That's a wild, rocky cup....a seashore with foamy surf inside, some bits of grass clinging to the edges of the cliffs, and rough going where the sand meets the cliffs.

Cool.

Really looks terrific with the bits of matcha foam scattered over the bottom--nice match of ceramic and glaze and tea.

Cory, I would love to hear a little more info on you process regarding that bowl, I have a woodfire background but don't know much about other types of firing. Do you apply ash to the wet shino or dry? I have only tried applied ash on a couple of pieces and am much more familiar with fly ash. Regardless of your process the bowl is stunning and I am very happy to have received it as a birthday gift. As I understand you practice Omotesenke, Would love to hear your thoughts on what separates an Omotesenke bowl from a urasenke bowl. I practice the later and a friend/ceramist here in san diego says the approach is different. Just wondering if you had any insights?

Best Regards,
Blair
