Nice to know another of the triplets is still in actionI use mine daily right now with Shincha season
... speaking of the triplets ... and Kinari. Mr. Goodwill is still retired on a shelf and contemplating possible return to service.
And Kinari ... is back on the menu, boys! (LotRism) Just opened the bag. The dry aroma is not like any other shincha so far this year. Hope to brew it in the AM.
What a shincha line up ... currently open Miyabi, Botan, Yutaka Midori, 88 Night, AOI, Kikyou, Kirameki, Tsubaki, Sae Midori, Mare, Chiran from O-Cha and Hakoniwado via OTTI 13 and 14. Some are now virtually gone ... which means time to open some new selections.
Oh, more shincha open currently ... Houkujo from Den's and a mystery shincha from Sugimoto.
whew!!!
Today, Botan and Kirameki and Tsubaki.

Both of my bags of Kinari Shincha are used up. See you next year!
Now drinking last year's "Silver" from O-Cha. Kind of has a more toasty flavor to it. A bit like a Tamaryokucha even. Not as vegetal and sweet and "green" as the "Gold" at all.
Still a nice cup, though!
Had it after bacon & eggs. Very un-Japanese but very good, haha.

Cha Wang Tai Ping Hou Kui, spring 2012 from Teaspring
extraordinary looking in the bag, this

"two knives and one pole": two straight leaves clasping the enormous bud with white hairs. The oven-made leaves are deep green in color with red veins underneath.
ima go gaiwan next time, this is far too tricky to get into the pot
pleasant tho

this vid shows the leaf detail better

Ikuyo no Mukashi made Koicha style. Either slightly too stale, or not the best tea for Koicha style ( too low a grade). Quite incredibly bitter, but lots of other good flavors.
Mixed the last bit up into Usacha.

Kinari from Maiko to start the TeaDay ...
I was struck today by the sweet honeydew melon aroma of the dry leaves warming in my preheated kyusu ... will this repeat?
There are some sensations with teas that happen once, then never again, but I will be looking for this next time.

A tall yunomi of Uji shincha from Ippodo. Refreshing and delicious. I'll be sad when this tin is empty.
