Condensed Milk?

I generally don't do the milk and sugar thing even to black tea. But I can imagine it would make good chai too.

The only time I have heard of using condensed sweetened milk is when making Vietnamese style coffee.. Great stuff BTW

Same here, I've only seen it with Vietnamese-style coffee. Now I'm tempted to explore others!

We are talking about canned condenced milk, right???

This thread is making me ill. I occasionally cook or bake with the stuff, but just the thought of putting it in my tea is giving me a gag reflex.

If someone gave it to me and did not tll me they put it in, I might love it, just don't tell me before hand.

I do that as well. I buy the condensed milk that comes in a squeeze bottle instead of a can.

True, true, it's sort of a bizarre concept. But it's probably similar to sweeteners like fructose corn syrup in iced teas... maybe? Which I've been reading lately is not much different from normal sugar in cals. Would condensed milk in iced tea taste good I wonder?

Leelee--where do you find condensed milk in a squeeze bottle rather than can. I've never seen that. Would like to try it, especially for some chai tea I have that will be going elsewhere unless I can make it taste richer.

I think condense milk is mainly used in Asia where fresh milk is not easily available in the old days. Distribution is easier and has a much longer shelf life.. It is an acquired taste.

In Vietnam, people use sweet condense milk with their coffee. However, I find cream much smoother with coffee.

Doesn't condenced milk also have additives such as salt and preservatives. Hmmm, I need to look for a leftover can from Thanksgiving.

Condensed milk also has a hella lot of calories and such. If that's a concern of yours, be sure to compare labels between it and regular ol' milk.

That's really true. Many of the labels say that it has corn syrup, which is basically in everything and gives the sweet tea it's pizazz.
