Vendor and link, please?
Not the first time we have heard of this ... and I do not recall ever hearing a poster lend credibility to the practice.

This kind of stuff is exaggerated at best and fictitious marketing at worst. If you are buying from a little known online vendor, my advice would be to err on the side of caution and take everything with a grain of salt.iovetea wrote:they said their oolong got buried in the earth and only taken out for roasting. There's no weight indication, is there? I don't even know how much tea you're getting for 120 EUR
Anyway, the label on the can says "cave aged old tea", for what it's worth. Frequently reroasted tea is not worth a lot of money - 120 EUR should buy you a whole half kilo.

I've never heard of such a practice but if they claim it's true I feel like there must be at least some truth to it. Even if that truth may be stretched.
Re: Fake or is it possible?? I came across an online vendor,
So when does this truth stretching becomes what we normally consider lying?
Re: Fake or is it possible?? I came across an online vendor,

I believe the acceptable international standard for truth stretching in tea age is 1-5 years for cave aging, 1-10 years for burial aging. Any figure beyond that is considered a full lieMarshalN wrote:So when does this truth stretching becomes what we normally consider lying?

Haha I guess I didn't think of it that way. Stretching the truth and lying are not much different at all.
Re: Fake or is it possible?? I came across an online vendor,
well if i order tea and i get a sample of shincha from this year and i order it, but then get tea of last year. even so its still nice and stuff than its a clear lying and an insult to me. Also the same goes when they sell teapots that are obviously leaking.
Well i think it that way, even if the tea is drinkable, do i really want to put my precious so valuable money in the hand of someone who doesnt respect me as a person, and thinks so little about my intelligence that he can do that?...
