I have just ordered some of the Imperial Pearl from Mountaintea.com, but I was at first confused by the similarly named 'Black Pearl'. The staff at Mountaintea quickly responded to my inquiry, so I was able to cancel and reorder the correct tea, along with some tasty others. I've also reordered some of the 'Imperial' spring TGY from Yunnan Sourcing, which I was enjoying so much that I just ripped right through my first order of it without ever taking a proper tasting note. Sadly, I just finished the last of it, and it will be a little while before more arrives to fill the void, and meanwhile, no more sweet floral warm sunny TGY for me.

Next up, another go at the Oriental Beauty cake from the same OTTI.

Just had some 馬頭岩肉桂 this evening, I'm not entirely sure if there's a official translation for it, but I guess it would loosely translate to Horse Head Rock Rou Gui? Anyways, it was wonderful, this particular one that I brewed today was from 2010, so that fiery baking scent has worn off, and this batch came with a unique milky aroma, with rich and creamy texture.

I usually just use porcelain when entertaining guests or testing tea, but for this I had to whip out my tiny cup collection and really experiment it in different types of cups.

Dad just got back from Thailand and brought me two 150g bags of the best oolong he could find. The one we tried tonight says "Oolong #12" and is amazingly floral and fruity. Lots of whole leaves and very nice in the cup, although bitter compared to the traditional HK pu erh I've been living on. Definitely a nice and needed change though!

The first two pics are of the #12. The oolong in the third pic is less sweet-smelling. Can't wait to try it.

Two very different oolongs today: opened up my last pouch of the 2012 'White Oolong' from Norbu, a delicious delicate floral sweet light tea, which I somehow managed to share with coworkers in the office despite the urge to hoard it all for myself; and some Mi Lan Dan Cong, also from Norbu, a tea that I still find tricky--the first infusion I got fruity/floral, and the next a bit astringent, and back n' forth from there.

Lao Cong Shan Cha - Spring 2011 from Norbu
A nice tea that has a heavy oxidation and not roasted.Reading on Norbu's website it says that the tea is "baked" in the sun instead of roasting.Some infusions it reminded me of Hong cha with the heavy oxidation.

Drinking some very good TGY from a wholesaler around the corner. They supply restaurants, but this was their highest grade, and restaurants don't buy this stuff. Amazing tea, and I'm very glad I picked it up! As with most HK tea houses, I didn't get too much in the way of specifics, but it's definitely the best lighter TGY I've ever had.

As much as I have been trying to work on my Japanese greens and finish my Shincha, for the first time in a long time my Chinese (non puerh) and Taiwanese box of of tea is getting out of control. So I have been workingon that quite a bit as well.

So todays victim is the last of my Red Blossom Heritage Rou Gui. Their Yancha is decent for office drinking, but not that great when I really want a good pot of Yancha.

I've been given a nice simple lightly roasted TGY from a coffee-drinking colleague who got it as a gift, which makes a decent warm/wet brew for thermos use; and working on a packet of Fall 2011 Jin Guan Yin from Norbu. The JGY is not as lasting as a nice TGY, but its an easy-drinking oolong.

Probably all oolong until tomorrow.
