Re: 2011 Gold Dayi Raw Puerh vs. Gold
Hrm, it appears that neither has really changed much in price?
auhckw's original post puts the Dayi at 210 RMB or about 32 USD. If current price is about 240, or about $38 USD.
And again, aukchw's original post puts gold around 54.53 USD per gram, and current price is 54.97 USD.
Dragon Tea House still has "more than 10 available" at $68 USD (with free shipping; only 1 sold so far), which is still way over market price.
One of auhckw's later posts says the price of the Dayi was about 47 USD, so it may have cooled off a bit. Or, it's just the problem of looking at different sources. Either way, it doesn't seem to have skyrocketed.

Re: 2011 Gold Dayi Raw Puerh vs. Gold
Recently, most of the new Dayi teas' prices seem to following the same pattern, they are expensive when they first come out, then the price drop below the initial offering (like Facebook!).
2011 Gold Dayi been around 200 RMB for some time and most of the price increases was in the last few months after Cloud gave it a stamp of approval. The man says 'Yay' and the rest of the world (well, in this case China) follow.

Re: 2011 Gold Dayi Raw Puerh vs. Gold
I had been talking with someone about whether or not Fujin blends are really just high(er) end Dayi blends. So, I was wondering, how does the Dayi Gold/70th experience compare with that Fujin you've had recently?
Re: 2011 Gold Dayi Raw Puerh vs. Gold
There are many Fuji blends each year, I only tried a couple and this can't give an overall picture.shah82 wrote:I had been talking with someone about whether or not Fujin blends are really just high(er) end Dayi blends. IMHO, Dayi 70th is good, I might get a tong at the end but I'm not in a hurry as there are other better cakes. I think the high end Fujin cakes I had (I haven't posted in here) does taste much better than the Dayi 70th, but if you ask me to compare the 2012 Fujin I posted here with Dayi 70th, I need to try both many times before I could give my opinion. The 2012 Fujin is much younger, more than a couple years in real term when you compare with the Dayi 70th as there are some older material in the Dayi. When a cake is very new, I always find it rather difficult to tell how good it is.
Edited: The above post only referring to Dayi 70th Ann. I misunderstood when shah82 wrote "Dayi 70th / Gold" as "Dayi 70th Ann." cake only. Dayi 70th Ann, also called Golden period ... etc. hence the mixed up.
Regarding to 2011 Dayi Gold, IMHO it is significantly better than Dayi 70th Ann. and dare I say it is on similar level as some mid ranking Fujin. In fact I got more than a tong of 2011 Dayi Gold.

Re: 2011 Gold Dayi Raw Puerh vs. Gold
Agreed - it's very difficult to get a real sense of how a tea will be in a few years when it's fresh from the trees. I think generally speaking you need to wait six months before it's more clear.apache wrote:When a cake is very new, I always find it rather difficult to tell how good it is.

I corrected my previous post as there are some errors.
I always try to be accurate and true when expressing my own opinions but this doesn't mean my opinions is always "right".
