Aiya matcha ?

Anyone tried their Premium matcha? It's kind of expensive but I wonder if it'd worth the asking price.

It is not. It used to go under another name in the US, don't remember what. You might be able to find a thread about this somewhere here. I think this is a brand where you American packaging premiums.

Well that kind of sucks. They present themselves as if they supply whole world's matcha tea.
I think the premium 30 grams cost about $50. They also say that they supply a lot of the matcha to US vendors.

Aiya is a really big player in the realm of matcha. And they do supply matcha to a lot of different tea companies. It is likely you have had one or more of their selections w/o even knowing it.

I seem to recall a claim that the the parent company was the largest matcha manufacturer and/or distributor in Japan or worldwide. I have not heard any challenges to the claim.

The matcha I have had from them directly and indirectly (semi private and private labeling) have all been quite good. TBH, I do not know if I have had the selection you mention.

I used to buy our organic matcha from them for quite a few years. I only used them for organic, the quality was pretty good. However, about a year ago I found better quality from an Uji company for the same price so I switched. If you put the two side by side, the difference was quite obvious. They were also the only Japanese company who didn't have jack squat to say to us after the the earthquake so it made it just that much easier to switch.

Aiya actually do monthly radiation tests of their products through a 3rd party lab located in the US. They disclose all test results to anyone who asks, and they even make announcements on their website and blog whenever new tests are preformed.
