Official what Black (Red) Tea Are You Drinking Right Now?
Re: Official what Black (Red) Tea Are You Drinking Right Now?
Now Keemun 2012 Nonpareil from Five Star Tea...its amazing.its even more subtle and balanced than 2011. The taste and aroma are present notes of red fruits, honey, malt cereal and some resin accents. Its not so sweet like 2012, but it may be the result of a large amount of dried. Very complex, flavors. For me...masterpiece. Now I drink 5th infusion. I used something like 3, 4-5g per gaiwan 90ml. 92-95 degrees. 3 sec, 5 sec, 10 sec, 18 sec, 25 sec...next? hmm something like 40, 60, 80, 100, 300(?). I can say that there will be about 5 infusions. Its a....MASTERPIECE!;) And i notice interesting fact..colder brew is less sweet

Purple varietal roasted from Yunnan. Its not great its not bad, just different I much prefer the lighter roasted, you get that plummy/sun dried tomato taste to it.
Worth a try.

Had one from puerh area... Stained my gaiwan purple. I gave it up after looking and smelling the overnight brew. Horrifying

Well I didn't have Tim's experience. Rather the tea was extremely more 'floral' and fragrant than others I've had in the past. The lighter roasted leaves have a slight purple/dark brown shades if you look at them closely. Nothing mayor, I think Oolongs and Puerhs may be more noticeable in the leaf color.
To me the dark roast was a 'generic' black tea with slight plummy/passion fruit scent and taste. And the light roast had a PLUM or sundried Tomato scent and taste to it. I won't lie, it was upsetting at first. It took me several tries to get it through my head but is a great experience. And as with anything new and unexpected it might take more than one try.

I just finished a cup of irish breakfast tea. Yeah nothing fancy LOL I'll be ordering it in loose leaf hopefully soon since these tea bags are 2 years old. It was a little mellow tasting. I see adagio has it for a nice price so I'll probably order there. Does anyone know if adagio is back to using tins for tea or if they still use the bags. I had a few sampler bags from them and the bags refused to zip closed.. I may order elsewhere if they still use the bags as I don't currently have any tins I could use.

If you click on "help" on Adagio Teas' website, you can send your questions to them.

If the tea is still shipped in the zipper bags you could buy the tea and a set of tins. They sell the tins in sets of 3 at a reasonable price compared to other vendors. Also, did you let them know the problem you had with the bag? When Chip uses Adagio bags for the OTTIs I find that I can close them without a problem, at least in the sample size, so maybe there was a bad batch.

Actually, a LARGE percentage of the bags fail or are defective. We have to test each one before filling for OTTI/NOTTI.
Adagio seemed a bit skeptical of my claims since they had not heard of this from customers. I would suggest contacting them about the bag fails.

Good point. When I order from them again I'll be sure to let them know if I get a bad bag.

I just enjoyed my first cup of Chamraj Nilgiri from Harney.com. I wrote a first impressions blog post about it in the Tea Blog section. I'll have another cup here in a while and try to write the full post as I drink it. I'm new to tea so my blog post wont be top notch but it should help you decide if you want to try it.

I'm waking up with a tasty 2nd flush Margaret's Hope Darjeeling from TeaSource today.
Kudos to Jessica at TeaSource for great customer service. Super quick response to my questions, had my order packed and ready to go before I even sent the payment, and threw in a couple nice samples.
Definitely pleased with the quality of their teas and service!
