John Miller Pottery
Greetings,
I'll post a life story soon (yawn), but until then, here are a few new cups I got last night. I finally got my nuka glaze to melt.. but I can't remember which test was which. Doh!
Also, here is a link to the last body of work I did two years ago, many of which are tea cups. Please ignore the embarrassing bike racing pictures.
Best,
John Miller

Re: John Miller Pottery
Hi John, thanks for the welcome and kind words. I moved into a house a few years ago and set up a small studio in the basement, sans kiln. I've worked on and off at the Oregon College of Art and Craft over the last eleven years as they have excellent facilities. It's a small school but the students seem to receive a really good education there. I mostly just go there for studio space and firings but I did learn how to salt and soda fire up there. Eventually I want to get an electric kiln and maybe another one to do reduction firing in. I had a friend in Boston who reduced his wares by sticking a gas burner in the bottom of his electric kiln!

I got a few nice ones from the kiln last night.
Very dark clay with a faux nuka-type glaze, over my real ash glaze.

Swirly, swooshy, blue and black and drippy--very nice. How big is it?
