11/7/12 TEA for the start of your TeaDay?

by Chip » Nov 7th, '12, 12:15

Welcome TCers to another day for tea! I hope to see a lot of TeaDrinkers sharing what's in their cup with us on again another cold, dreary day on the northeastern coast. Will the sun ever come out again?

So, let's keep it short and simple ... "What type of TEA did you begin your TeaDay with today?" Pictures are encouraged as always, it's nice to see the teas along with the wares.

As always, I am looking forward to sharing teas with everyone today.
Bottoms up and ... drink what you like, like what you drink!

Didn't get a chance to brew this morning, but did just "shot gun gaiwan" some 2012 Song Po oolong from Hou De. Catching up on transposing 4 months worth of notes from paper onto the laptop, and listening to some podcasts.

Finished a session with some lovely Tie Luo Han that hadn't wasn't done giving flavor when I had to abandon the tea-brewing post last night. I rarely start the day with a dark roast oolong or a puerh--it's usually green, light oolong, or white to start, but it was a little bit overcast, a little bit chilly, and really felt just right.

Today was my birthday.. so I began it with my Adagio blend.. Smoky Mornings.. a blend of Assam Melody, Ceylon Sonata and Lapsang Soushong..

my Adagio order arrived today too :D new iced tea glasses, some replacement teas, chamomile for my bed time tea/tisane and a replacement sugar/creamer since I broke the creamer on the other set. All in all a good day I'd say

My mornings always start with a huge cup of milky black tea, Assam more often than not. Old habits die hard.

I should probably start my day with tea more often, but it usually ends up being mostly coffee until later in the afternoon. I am a bit limited in what I can drink throughout the day, because I only eat in the evening, and yancha, matcha, (young) puerh, and some other kinds of tea make me feel very nauseous on an empty stomach. Morning or afternoon drinking is usually some sort of oolong or Japanese green.

2 cups of red organic oolong from Thailand has been the start of my day for several months now, but it seems longer. Like falling in love w/ a lady, I went wild in the beginning. I bought kilograms. After the honeymoon, I started to feel I'd been tricked: I believed the large packs contained different tea than the sample packs, but it was me that was not the same, not the tea which was constant & sweet.

Like a lady sometimes not looking as pretty as before, the fault lies in the beholder's eyes, not w/the lady nor the tea; and, if the tea is not delicious, it is because I am not preparing &/or drinking it w/ care.

The tea is loyal & forgives me. Though some or all of a first cup may not be appreciated, it will at least get me started. By the second cup, I am attentive, grateful, & enjoying the tea & life.

Ethan,
I was definitely taking my teas for granted at first and just drinking a ton of tea a day..not enjoying it very much. Now I usually drink much less but I am not taking it for granted as before and enjoying it more.

Normally my TD wouldn't start like this, but I am ill and that is why herbals are in the cup.
Started with the "bitter nail" Kuding cha. - really do not like it but it helps.

Now I have the remnants of some nice African black tea. - Unfortunately I do not taste this much these days.

I thought you lived on Mt. Fuji? :P

What part of PA do you live in, if you don't mind saying? Maybe we're neighbors...
