Going to put in another puerh shop order, trying to get a nice variety of drinkable now teas.
This is what I picked so far- any further recommendations or subtractions?
2011 Organic Longyuan Menghai Chen Nien
2003 Yiwu Zhengshan Old Tree
2005 Songpin Hao Ripe Pu-erh Tea Cake Sampler
2006 Arbor Yinhao Tuocha
2007 Superior Grade Yinhao Tuocha
2003 Yiwu Acient Tree
thanks!
edit:
and also
2007 Xiaguan Tibetan Flame Brick
2008 Panchen Lama Mushroom Tuocha
Re: Nubie recommendations
In my opinion 2005 Yiwu Mansa is slightly better than 2003 Yiwu Zhengshan from the same factory (Manluo). And 2003 Yiwu Ancient Trees is better than both of them, having very similar taste profile.
I recommend you to try their own production. Even their cheapest shengs are bright and powerful. I have tried and enjoyed 0901 (clone of 7542 that Hobbes once called Project Manhattan), 1207 (clean and cooling), 1205 (tons of energy), 1206 (pleasantly soapy Lincang).

Re: Nubie recommendations
Well, I personally, have no problem drinking young shengs. For me, the older ones are just a different kind of tea. I find both young and older ones pleasant, though, in different ways.

This depends what you are comfortable drinking. The 2007 and 2008 Xia Guan you mentioned (panchen/baoyan) are going to be really, really rough at this age, especially if they were stored in a dry environment.
Re: Nubie recommendations
Does anyone know about this Panchen Lama tuocha?
Cant find anything on the interwebs.
