Re: Today's MatchaWan :D (new name, but tea's the same)
Tamiya Yamane tea bowl, from kazuwazan-gama. Fully pinched "tebineri" style summer bowl. Matcha is Ginshirushi
Usucha.

So you're the one who purchased this chawan. Congrats !! I used to watch it all the time while it was on sale and I am glad to be able to see it once again. Very cool form. I had the chance to some of his work while in Japan. He was a great artist for sure.

yes, I couldn't resist this quintessential summer form, this bowl has a lot of "spirit" to it. I am not actually a fan of the classic Kazuwa red glaze, but have always loved the forms. This fit the mood perfectly, nice and open with a glaze that just suggests coolness while I ride out the remainder of these hot summer days.
p.s. the Kazuwa you posted recently has fantastic shaping you can really see the artists hands at work.

Thank you ! The artist thanks you very much as it was acutally me who did it, my first pottery ever in fact, made under the supervision of Yamane Yoshiko during a visit to Kazuwa kiln last winter. Of course, the glaze was not my doing...
Actually, it is a gohan and not a summer chawan. But I cannot resist to prepare matcha in it !

Small type Nodate Raku. Glazed foot. Good pairing with my chabako.

Hopefully I can get a bowl whisked in it by a real pro for our Mid Autumn Fest!

Thiebaut Chague's chawan small and heavy but I love it and yukki matcha (aged a little as you can see on weak colour)

Apologies for my absence and lack of responsiveness for awhile - my mom has been declining, and has now recently passed. So, I've been a bit preoccupied.
That shared - I just love all your matcha and chawan sharing - soothes my soul!
I very much hope to see more.
Gorgeous chawan all.
Peace.

Here's a new chawan I just received from Shawn McGuire...
May you too be soothed.
(apologies - as some of you may notice - I am still struggling with my 'new' camera; white balance issues. sigh)
