Official Pu of the day

One of the intentionally aged teas, Pu-Erh has a loyal following.

yeah, from Houde...from your storage 13F52, or did you just get that sample pack?

Food for thought, remember all the craze about that Dehong brick from '05 at one time? Wonder if the blanding out that happened to the Dehong brick happened here.

It was a pretty light and pleasantly complex tea when I had it, and I've seen more recent notes that it had a strong and weird qi.

I've always thought that this was a tea with an interesting history. Started off flame wars about what yiehsheng is, and why anyone should try and drink it.

Yes, from Houde -- bought 1oz samples of a few things, this Jiangchen among others. So, no, not my storage. It is weird -- so thin and metallic in the mouth.

This Jiangchen is wild which surprised me too when i sampled it few days ago. It's a bit like others wild stuffs i tried (ailao, lancang) : a very fine puer with a taste of cat urine.

Drinking cat urine is not usually a good thing for your body

Marshaln, i don't like this cat urine taste either and i dont like this kind of pu (and i hate hershey's). But i think they also have some of the good pu qualities: no astringency, oily soup, strong qi...

2003 Tongchingyuan Yiwu "Long-Ma"
Houde (1oz sample)

Dry leaves show signs of good aging and storage in the relatively humid Houston, TX, climate. The tea brews medium red, clear teasoup. Woody, bamboo, caramelized sweetness accompanied with ample body and soft tannins. Finishes sweet in the back of the throat. Not overly complex, but a pleasant tea with a calming energy. I would get a few cakes to see how it would further ages were it still available.

Cat urine is not what I had in mind to talk about wild puerh notes, although it is not easy to describe. I didn't care for it at first, now I like it a lot, when the product is nice of course.

So I guess french people do like cat's pee...

Drank five teas today. 60s GYG was the best of the bunch. Hoffman's "early 90s" Yiwu was easily the worst. The rest I'll have to compose my thoughts and type out on my blog

Was the 60's GYG medicinal in taste?

Enjoying an unknown shu pu (a gift some time ago, I do not remember from who) that is earthy and pleasant--enough to stand up to artichokes for dinner.

No, it's naturally stored. Very fragrant

Alas, it's just quick reviews. I don't like writing about specific notes anyway, since those are pretty meaningless for other people. My almond is your cat urine.

I doubt that. Your almond might be my vanilla, but cat urine?
